Thurston from Pender
Five-Star Recruit
Our late Sigma Nu frat brother, H. Cooper Hanson, III, used to give Malcom grief all the time about him being from Bassett and not Malcom.
I always just rolled my eyes when people would claim this was a horrible play and should never be ran when Solich was here. It was a great play when used correctly. You could never guess when Tom was going to run it, though. With Frank, everyone in the stadium saw it coming a mile away.

This was the case last season....I agree. While its not ideal we start like this, I highly doubt we look like this come seasons endI think offenses sometimes need time to progress. Maybe it's not the fault of any one position or coach, but just a time-to-develop matter.
Seriously???He's too in love with slinging it around sideline to sideline hoping JD or Wan'Dale will turn it into a glorified 25-50 yard run play.
Seriously???
I was wondering when "run the damn ball" guy was going to show up.
FYI....46 runs to 26 passes.
If you're going to quote someone at least quote everything. Because then you're reading it out of context. I know the stats. How many of those 46 runs were A) zone runs and B) QB runs because the O-Line failed to block on a passing down and AM was scrambling for dear life? Or how many of them were inside handoffs that went for 1-3 yards or a fumble? Zero creativity is the point. No delayed handoffs, no counters, no draws to the running back.
It's just lazy throwaway downs to get to a passing down. The offensive staff gets into a whirlwind if a run goes for 5-6 yards. They rely on what's called money plays in hopes of getting an explosive play and when it doesn't work they do it again. That's not indicative of a successful game plan.

It wasn't the play that was bad.

I can't remember who but there were posters here who said the defense would need to carry this team early on this year while the offense gelled and figured it out. I think they were spot on and that's what we're seeing.
