In a first in PGA Tour history, a South Korean has won the 2009 PGA Championship at Hazeltine National Country Club in Chaska, Minnesota. Y.E. Yang overcame a two shot deficit to Tiger Woods at the beginning of the fourth round to win by three strokes and claim his first major championship on the PGA Tour.

After trading shots back and forth between the leader Woods and Yang to all even, the turning point came at the 14th Hole, when Yang armed with a lob wedge chipped in a 50 footer for Eagle. Woods followed with a Birdie on the same hole to go behind by one stroke. Yang birdied the 18th Hole for a 2 under Par score of 70, finishing the tournament at 8 under Par, capturing his first PGA major after winning his first PGA title at the Honda Open earlier this year. The 17th and 18th holes seen Tiger Woods literally self destruct going Bogie-Bogie, closing the day at 3 over Par score of 75, and finishing the tournament at 5 under par. It was the first time Tiger Woods had ever been beaten after leading 54 holes in a tournament in 14 tries.

  1. Y.E. Yang -8 280
  2. Tiger Woods -5 283
  3. Lee Westwood -3 285
  4. Rory Mcllroy -3 285
  5. Lucas Glover -2 286

First time Tiger has ever lost a major after being in the lead or sharing the lead after two rounds. 8-1

Man, Woods couldn't make a putt to save his life. He had tons of chances to run away with the tournament.

Have to give credit to Yang, though. He never really got rattled and made a couple of amazing shots.
