I didn't know how many members on the board use e-cigs, but with many people throwing away the packs of Marlboros and switching over to the future of smoking I figured that the vaping connoisseurs can share what devices or flavors of juices they prefer.

E-Cigs have been a hot topic in the news as well with some states looking to possibly banning the devices or having them strictly regulated. Post any news or studies that you find here.

I think they are the lamest things I have ever seen...with that being said...I wish I would have bought into one of the 3 E-cig places in the area that I live...They are making money hand over fist! Just another idea that I missed out on...

The guy that started Plumes in Omaha started selling them in his parents basement about 5 years ago. Now the guy is making millions.

I think they are the lamest things I have ever seen...with that being said...I wish I would have bought into one of the 3 E-cig places in the area that I live...They are making money hand over fist! Just another idea that I missed out on...

Why? I don't smoke and I would never use one of these things, but they're brilliant. You get your nicotine fix without the tar & chemicals inherent in cigarettes. It's overall healthier, it takes money away from a bad lobby in Washington & it helps people.

I think these things are among the best inventions in the past 25 years.

Why? I don't smoke and I would never use one of these things, but they're brilliant. You get your nicotine fix without the tar & chemicals inherent in cigarettes. It's overall healthier, it takes money away from a bad lobby in Washington & it helps people.

I think these things are among the best inventions in the past 25 years.

They're definitely a better alternative than cigarettes, but I've never seen a person smoke one without looking pretentious. It was really weird the first couple times you see plumes of smoke going up in the bar again, but you don't have the awful smell anymore.

There was an article in the paper the other day which said they may still release some harmful chemicals, similar to cigarettes, such as formaldehyde. Obviously with a young technology the research is just starting to come in, we'll see I guess.

I don't think we can say e-cigarettes are safe. It's a near-certainty they are safer than cigarettes, the product they're intended to replace.

The AHA had avoided making any sort of statement until now. In a 20-page policy paper, the association cites research that suggests vaping is less dangerous than smoking and suggests it can be used as a smoking cessation aid.

"E-cigarettes either do not contain or have lower levels of several tobacco-derived harmful and potentially harmful constituents compared with cigarettes and smokeless tobacco," it states. E-cigarettes also "present an opportunity for harm reduction if smokers use them as substitutes for cigarettes."

That's not to say that the AHA wholeheartedly endorses the use of e-cigarettes. Like many other health organizations (and like some in the industry itself), the group suggests that e-cigs should be regulated much like tobacco products are now, and it also cites the oft-stated worry that e-cigs could "renormalize" tobacco use and serve as a gateway for children and teens to get into smoking.

Nearly nothing we do is "safe." From drinking alcohol to eating red meat to boxed cereal to even sitting down, everything we do comes with inherent risks. E-cigarettes are a better option for smokers than an actual cigarette. That's their benefit.

I read an article on that study. The Formaldehyde is released when the juice is heated at extremely high temperatures, most devices can't get that hot. Nicotine itself is harmful to the body and lethal at high dosages. I wouldn't call vaping a "healthy" habit but it is definitely healthier than the 7000+ cancer causing agents found in cigarettes.

I see dieing from bliss as the only risk here.

At this point the studies are too early and conflicting to make an accurate judgement on vaping. For example, Knapp posted an article from the AHA, the World Health Organization posted a conflicting report while WebMD posted an article from a group of researchers from the UK who criticized the WHO with their claims. http://www.webmd.com/smoking-cessation/news/20140905/who-call-e-cigarette-ban-criticized

My personal experience, I feel much better and have more energy when I vape compared to when I was smoking tobacco.
