I mean there's so,much Espn bias one of the only power five teams ever to get shut out of the championship game was Auburn. Twice.

Yeah, that 1993 team got screwed ... by previous team affiliates who go them banned from the post-season. Definitely disproves the assertion.

I for one am stunned they spend the most time talking about the highest ranked teams. It's a horror.

It's not limited to here either. Every swimsuit issue I've gotten from sports illustrated has really nice looking women on it with rockin chest beefers,they don't give any equal time to the 280 pound girls.

I remember when sec bias and bias alone helped Florida stomp Ohio St when everyone thought Ohio st would roll and were wondering why a rematch with Michigan wasn't happening (who also got stomped)

I have to echo the thoughts of some here - if the SEC didn't have such good and highly ranked teams, ESPN wouldn't be talking about them as much.

I'll bet because the SEC is doing well, that's the fanbases ESPN is targeting to get more eyeballs. Plus, several SEC teams right now are shaping the playoff picture and will be right in the thick of it all at the end of the season, so it's difficult not to talk about them.

As someone mentioned, if the B1G were just as good, we'd be getting probably double the coverage that we are. But, there aren't a lot of exciting story lines nationally with the B1G, where as the SEC will likely churn out the national champion.

I certainly think the SEC/ESPN relationship is one that comes with bias, but I don't think there's much when it comes to these graphs.

what? i do not know what you are referring to. the fact that they have won 7 of the last 8 (quite the feat), or the other empirical evidence i provided about how well they have performed over other conferences in the bowls. and when non-con games are scheduled against them, they do pretty well: "In the last five years, the 12 continuous SEC programs are 41-24 (.631) in nonconference, regular-season games against Power 5 opponents."

The only air time the ACC gets is Florida St. and the subject matter is more often than not Winston's non football issues...

that conference is boring. and bad. there is bias, alright. and that bias is towards ratings.

but are we arguing that the sec is, and has been for awhile, the best conference, or that there is some bias towards the sec?

because i think it is pretty simple. the sec is the best, most interesting conference. ergo they get the most attention. and this is at a time that other conferences are kind of down.

but that is just my take on the situation.

This is my problem with the SEC/ESPN bias. The only reason to me why the teams in the SEC are highly rated is because they get talked about non-stop by ESPN and made to look invisible. Miss St, Ole Miss and A&M were/are rated at one time in the top 5 but not one of them played a P5 OOC game. A&M beats a preseason top team in South Carolina and they go from unranked to #10. Miss St. beats LSU, who had issues with lowly Wisconsin and they go from unranked to top 15. Ole Miss is the only team out of the 3 that started in the top 25 and gained spots for beating Bama. Lsu goes from #25 to 15th for beating Ole Miss. That same Ole Miss team didn't drop because of the loss but ND loses to #1 FSU and they drop 6 spots.
