there is a FRYFEST going on....

no preference on leaving early...being quiet...thats a different story. You have to be loud, it gives the skers' a bigger edge in the game, IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE!! stand up raise your voice and give the other team hell! as long as you show respect afterwards :thumbs

yeah skers

tell them how many miles you ride a mountain bike every week. :thumbs

That has happened to me only it was 1972. There were people at the game that said please sit down we want to see the game too. Unfortunately the majority of the people were standing and I wanted to see the game also. I stood I'm 52 now and can still stand and raise some hell just not as much as in 1972. No blue hair just kinda gray. See everyone at USC GBR GBR GBR

Just alittle over 200 miles a week with about 12,000 foot of climbing. Resting heart rate at 40 max at 181.

Not bad for an old fart.

I will be at the Texas Game with a big trailer and barbeque. All are welcome. I will give you more details later. A friend of mine on another board has the site and is getting me one next to him. Should be a pretty good spread.

Lets face it....when it comes down to it the reason most people go to the game is the atmosphere. In all reality you can see a lot more of whats going on if the game is televised which ends up being a majority of the home games. So i think as long as everyone else is standing up, i will stand up, as long as i feel like yelling, i will yell, and i encourage everyone to have a good time regardless if that makes you sober or not sober. As long as you can control foul language and as said before respect those around you, not just the blue hairs. My final answer? Enjoy the game the way you would like to.

Sounds great! the texas game is the first home game after my 21st, so i'd love to come down with the wife and have a couple and enjoy the atmosphere! :cheers

They have the right to be there and be upset that someone is standing in front of them as that person standing is pissed off that said blue hair is telling them to sit down. It's called America, ain't it great?

100% how I feel about the subject.

The UT game is gonna be awesome.

I agree with a mixture of things. One is the leaving early thing. Why, after playing upwards of $50, would you leave early. I don't like that at all. It's like the fans show up, are seen, then take off.

The other thing is standing. Being 17, I'm young and want to be standing the whole game, like I do at my high school's games. That's what makes it fun, standing, cheering, and being a coach in the stands. If someone in front of me is standing, I'm gonna stand so I don't miss any of the action. I'm sorry if you have problems with knees or anything, and if you tell me I will glady sit down, and watch the game on one of the new big screens. But if your only reason of not standing is because you don't want to, that's when I have the problem.

Husker Nation is one of the reasons Nebraska is Nebraska, and we need to voice our support, especially with Texas coming to Lincoln this year. So be loud Husker Nation, stand, and cheer as loud as you can. Go Huskers!

:clap :clap good responses by all... i fully understand that there are some "bluehairs" that started the whole sellout streak. but at the same time, if you didn't have new blood there, the sellout streak, the home field advantage would die.

here's my one story about almost being so mad it was at the breaking point. i was at the 2001 OU game. my whole section (NE Corner) stood for the whole game. period. if you sat down, you would have missed plays. well, sure enough, there were four seniors sitting about 6-8 seats to my right. they're sitting, everyone else is standing.

i could sympathize with them, in that they probably barely had the energy to walk up 45 rows, much less cheer on their feet for the better part of 3 and a half hours.

however, it was pretty clear to everyone that no one was sitting unless there was a blowout, or halftime came and gone.

now at the end of the first quarter, these people literally start going around and pulling people down BY THEIR PANTS to sit. grabbing people at their waists and pulling them. people were falling into other people, others that had no idea what was going on were almost starting fights. :bat :bat

someone got the attention of a lancaster sherriff, and they told the guys that they could either stop or they would be GOING TO JAIL!!

the funniest part of the whole thing was these men would not leave!! i mean, holy cow, i'm sure you have friends somewhere, or sit on the bleachers on the field level. i understand being mad, but there is no way for a game of that magnitude, you were going to make 4-5 whole sections sit for YOU.

the other story i have, and i seriously thought about letting this guy have it....

last year, the wake game. i'm on the east side, up in the balcony. the national anthem starts, and i stop and take off my hat. but i accidentally step on someone's foot. i feel bad cause they are wearing sandals, so i step to my right. as i stop so i can stand still for the anthem, i'm literally GRABBED BY MY SHIRTCOLLAR and PULLED DOWN TO THE GROUND.

:steam :steam :WTH :WTH :bat :bat

what the hell man??? i get back up, and a 60-ish year old man looks at me, and tells me to "stay f__ing still during the anthem!!"

i wait till the anthem is done, and drop some high quality four letter bombs on him and tell him what i was doing. he basically told me to shut up and pay attention to the field. i thought better of slugging him, and walked off. didn't need to go to jail for some jerkoff.

rant over, thank you please pull around........... :restore :restore :restore

Yeah, when people start touching you and pushing and forcing you to sit, it gets really frustrating. In 2003 I attended the Utah State game. One play was developing into a large gain and I stood up naturally to get a better view and cheer on the team. Suddenly I'm thrusted down by a man who looked no older than 55 behind me. I was only 14 at the time, so I wasn't going to say anything, but come on, they're about to frickin score. Don't push me down because I'm excited.

Just to add more fuel to the fire about "youth verses blue hairs"...

A very self-important college freshman attending a recent football game took it upon himself to explain to a senior citizen sitting next to him why it was impossible for the older generation to understand his generation.

"You grew up in a different world, actually an almost primitive one," the student said, loud enough for many of those nearby to hear. "The young people of today grew up with television, jet planes, space travel, man walking on the moon, our spaceships have visited Mars. We have nuclear energy, electric and hydrogen cars, computers with light-speed processing and," At which point the freshman pauses to take another sip of beer.

The senior took advantage of the break in the student's litany and said, "You're right, son. We didn't have those things when we were young........so we invented them. Now, you arrogant little ********, what are you doing for the next generation?"

lol that IS pretty funny. age and experience triumph again.

I would be pissed if someone grabbed me and tried to sit me down!!! For the Texas game I'm standing up most likely so anyone behind me can just deal with it and I really don't care!!!
