They just dont get it.

It sounds like they'll be getting it too. It won't fix their problems, it will only delay their downfall.

Poor management and greedy unions are the downfall of this industry IMO.
You are quite right. The $25 Billion is already in the the bag, just the politicos had to feign their outrage first. Nothing like a little bit of union payback after the millions they dropped on their behalf in the last election.

What sucks is that the Big 3 are in such dire straights yet they won't give you such a deal on new car to encourage people buy.

They won't drop the price of their inventory and they won't give you a decent price on your trade in. They need to move inventory but are not willing to make it worth our while. Amazing.

Recently we received a card in the mail from Ford saying we are automatically approved for $40K of credit. Since my wife is intersted in the Ford Edge Limited or SEL with All Wheel Drive we went to 3 Ford dealerships. Instead of coming down to below $20K they kept the price around $29K and offered us $4,500 on her 2003, in mint condition, Durango.

Yeah, but not the guys who answer the phones :)

As far as dropping prices, all that really does is compete vs the other 2 in the Big 3, unless you are considering a KIA.... But as far as Toyota and Honda, they tend to keep their cars higher priced than the Big 3. What the Big 3 havnt managed to figure out in the last 30 years, if someone is going to spend thousands of dollars on something they intend to keep for 5 years or more, quality, amenities and value go farther than just being cheap.

So much for all those business degrees....

Come on guys. It's not like these auto companies have depended on making cars the same way for years and years and have fallen so far behind the cost effectiveness/quality of foreign made cars that they have no chance of climbing out. Oh, wait.......

Besides, look how well the bank bailout went!
