This is ridiculous- We NEED to beat SC

Booty is being placed in the hypsman category.

Their top running back last year, injured mid season, can not make the four deep rotation and is transferring.

Their WR's and Booty practiced together all summer, just like everybody else does.

Our upgrade at QB gave them the national lead in interceptions in one game.

Our running back was not impressive up the middle last year. SC has the speed to shut down the outside and he has yet to take a hit after his concussion. He, in my mind has yet to prove himself.

Anyone who thinks we win this game on talent is in for a long day. We win this game with coaching. We will have a very hard time moving the ball them. Schemes will win this game if it is to be won. I hope we win this game, but I will totally understand if we don't.

SC is as good as the media says. But on any given day any team can lose. We are looking at what we were ten years ago. You can not expect their fans to feel any different than we did then. Some still think that way. Hope for a great night to play the game, give every bit we have to make the noise a problem,, and keep our fingers crossed. This could be one of the best games in college football this year. Enjoy it and let our actions on the field do the talking. Respect your competition, they have earned it.

guys, you just can't argue with this assessment of what is out there for both teams. we could play this game 8 times and we would be lucky to win it once. we will need a ton of breaks to keep it close, yes anything CAN happen......the dog would have caught the rabbit if he hadn't stopped to take a sh#t!..same deal here.

This is ridiculous, any way you slice it. But yet I find reason to smile. Anyone care to know why? Because I know a secret. I know, for a fact, that USC is going to get their asses handed to them this season. Why? Because it always happens to this kind of team. "Oh, they can't be beat! It's impossible! Might as well not even play...everyone forfeit...too good...too deep...waaaah..."

And then what happens? At home, on a blusterous evening when it's least suspected, some nobody comes into their Condom stadium and punches them in the face. They lose, are disgraced, but of course we'll still hear about them until next season when the same stupid predicitons start all over again.

USC will not go undefeated. USC will not be this year's NC--in fact they won't even see the game.

Everyone save this document to your hard drive. I could be wrong, but it hasn't happened yet.

:bonez And USC must be razed to the ground. :bonez

I don't think any team ever has been unbeatable. You have to be pretty darn lucky to go undefeated for a whole season and I just don't see USC going undefeated only because of all the hype that is being talked about them. They will start letting it get into their heads that they are the best and start taking some teams lightly. Bottom line is they have to come to Memorial and the Huskers ALWAYS have a chance at Memorial!!!!! :bonez

The pre-season prognostications are understandable. Let's be realistic for a moment...

Over the last five years, I don't think any school has come close to the level of recruiting that has been found at USC. When you look at that factor, those pre-season predictions make sense. USC is loaded - there's no sense in denying it. On paper, their defense could end up being one of the all-time great defenses. Their offense, while lacking the "marquee" quality of past SC offenses, is extremely potent. They are balanced, they are well coached, and they know how to win.

Having said that, no team is unbeatable. Key injuries, emotional let downs, mental letdowns - all those things come into play. Assume for a moment that SC goes into that first game and loses Booty - no matter how good the backup is, he hasn't gotten the live reps that Booty has gotten, he doesn't have that invaluable year of experience that Booty has.

If the teams suffers from over-confidence, or a bad case of "senior-itis" - that can do it.

If a key player has a bad day, or two or three of them have a day like that, it can spread to the entire team.

If they have early problems - turnovers, in particular - that can do it.

In other words, it can happen.

But, I have no problem at all with the world thinking what they do about SC - it's logical and it SC has earned all the praise. There's no way to argue with that.

Can NU win? Certainly. As an outsider looking in, would any rational mind pick NU? No. But that's the fun of it all. In college football, anything can and does happen.

At the risk of being redundant, I concur with AR, "anything can happen".

Example: This week's regional SI had three Trojans on the cover. Before the week was over, one of them announced he was transferring to Okie St. This is before any action on the field. Wait till eveybody starts playing the game! What surprises await us this season?

By the way, I don't think we will go undefeated, but I do think we have a great chance to be in the NC game like Florida last year. Who do I think has a shot at beating us? Nebraska, Cal and Oregon (as a long shot).

Remember, only two teams have gone wire to wire as number one. It ain't easy to do folks. The odds are against it for anybody.

You should be ashamed of yourself!

Has anyone ventured over to the ESPN college football boards? Half the topics are about USC. This one USC fan told me NU wouldn't even score, cause USC is better than last year. I go "WTH" and he says Lincoln will be filled halfway with USC fans so homefield won't matter...I just LMAO'd and left.

USC has terrible fans.
If there are SC fans out there who think NU won't score they're mistaken, BC will score on the opening drive- even if it means a 60 yard field goal from Adi. Their fans won't come close to filling that little silver we allot them and it will be a long first-class flight home for those who make it to town. GBR

Yea just another one of your typical SC arrogant asses right!

Thanks Tarheel. It is great to see a good college football fan. Some of ours have slipped a little, but with the losses in the last 8 years it is understandable.

I have nothing but respect for the Trojans, I know BC feels the same way. You guys are the cream of the crop presently. I think we give you guys a hell of a game, but if you do beat us and beat us badly you are exactly what the press says.

Very few go wire to wire. I doubt you do, but thinking that you guys shouldn't be projected where you are is silly.

But we play the games. The SC kids have never seen anything like what they will see in Lincoln. Hopefully we will be able to stand and applaud your losing effort, but if not we will applaud your winning effort. Hail to the Victor either way.

It is hard to not love college football.

And it is great to be a Husker.

Nice post tarheel, you actually make a lot of sense, but don't forget about UCLA!

Close game......need score to be low to be in it.........need to catch some breaks...........prevent big plays......make them grind it out.........crowd needs to make Booty less comfortable.........hit Booty as often as possible.........and the most important factor, the knowledge we WILL win.

Bottom Line.....

we had the ball, down by 7 in the 4th quarter in the COLISEUM!!!

UNBEATABLE???? give me a freaking break that is a joke

No question they are the best team by far. But by no means unbeatable.

Ok, I don't think theres much of a chance of us beating USC because they are pretty good and recently when the Huskers play good teams they never win so it will probably be the same.

Thanks for the obiously thouroughly researched post, you made some really good points, I was in awe of your factual prowess, you should've stopped at "OK, I dont think", at least then you would've been correct.

Sad thing is, I bet he spent about an hour thinking of that!
