This is ridiculous- We NEED to beat SC

On paper they are the logical choice. Sc has shown that they play well on the road against good teams Just ask Arkansas last year. They have also shown that they can get in a funk and lose to a team they should beat handily (twice last year).

Playing in Memorial stadium gives us a better chance. We will need to attack them not sit back and hope for a close game. I think BC really lets his guys play this year and we will see a different type of game, not necessarily a different outcome but we do have a chance at a win.

I do not think we win a shoot out, I think if the Blsackshirts are very stingy and we create a few breaks we have a good chance. SC will not give this game away, we have to take it from them, and that is a very tough thing to do.

I've never bought into the claim that BC didn't "play to win" or as you suggest, did not "really let his guys play." I think his plan kept the game close enough that we had a chance to win and just could not get it done. I think BC did what he thought gave us the best chance of winning and he came up with a reasonable plan. I don't know what BC will do this year, but I do agree that a shoot out with SC is probably not a good plan. It only plays to their talent. I'd rather have a well-reasoned plan and fall just short than go for fireworks and get killed. Whatever, I think we do have a chance. No team is invincible, especially in college. That's part of the fun of college football -- kids mess up and add another level of uncertainty making it more interesting (and frustrating when it's us). It should be fun, especially if we win. More than anything though, I want the Huskers to play well and at least make SC glad to get out alive, win or lose.
Let me rephrase it for you. Since we have a better understanding of the play book and the line is more experienced we should be able to use more of the play book then the vannilla type of play calls that he used last year. BC played to keep it close and not to get blown out. YOU can buy into it or not. This year he has the benifit of playing at home with players that have been against a team like this before. With the improved line and a stronger armed quaterback we should be able to mix it up and try some things that were not available last year. If I remember, Purify was not used like he will be this year.

I never said they didn't try to win the game, BC did what he thought his team could be successfull at. I was just saying that he can let his guys play this year and I should have said he can let his guys play with more of the play book.

I agree. We should be more familiar with and be able to execute more of the play book. Hopefully Keller, assuming he's the QB, has been on the fast track in learning the system and won't be a limiting factor. I also agree, as I think you suggest, that last year's plan (whatever opinion one had of it) does not dictate this year's plan. In fact, I'd think SC would have last year's plan pretty well figured out by now. It seems pretty likely that with more experience in the system, some decent talent, etc. we will see a different approach than last year.

I hope Keller doesn't get impatient and try to force plays. He's got to be under a lot of pressure to make things happen. I love to review our last TD series in the TAMU game from last year, except for the dropped passes. Taylor was so cool in that game. I'd love to see us do that to USC.

yes. the dropped passes are still a concern, i hope our guys have made significant improvement in that area of play! funny, we don't hear much yet, in practices, how the wideouts are doing (big improvements) as far as catching the ball.

kinda makes me nervous already??
