FanFest -- Starts three hours before game time

Fans can visit FanFest on the southwest corner of Main St. and Stadium Blvd., across from Michigan Stadium. Hosted by U-M Athletics partner IMG College, FanFest will feature interactive games for fans of all ages in addition to giveaways and samples from clients. Fans will also be able to get their photo taken by the Big Ten Network with an eight-foot Charles Woodson bobblehead.

Just decided at the last minute to try to head up! We live only 5 hours away. Checking Stub Hub for tickets. Are there places to stay nearby that may not be sold out?

 
MichiganMan - need your honest opinion:

1) More intimidating home field UM or PSU? (BTW I was at the CU/UM game in 1994 - in the EZ where Westbrook caught the hail Mary :) but I don't remember it being loud or intimidating)

2) Better defense: UM or PSU? Or MSU for that matter? We kept hearing that MSU had the best DL and PSU the best overall defense..... IDK... PSU looked a lot better to me esp. the DL.

you most likely will not find a room in Ann Arbor, try surrounding cities such as Canton, Chelsea, Dundee, or even metro airport. All put you about 30 miles out from the Stadium.

Well.... even if you get a room anywhere in metro Detroit (Southfield, Royal Oak, West Bloomfield) it's about a 40 min ride to AA......

1) I have never been to PSU, so I cant comment on that. Michigan Stadium is alot louder these days after the rennovation, the new press boxes hold the sound in. and the Colorado game in 1994, i still remember like it was yesterday...broke my heart.

2) I would rate Michigan the better defense then PSU, I don't have any stats in front of my though. MSU is alot more physical....MSU likes to play dirty.

Penn State is a damaged team, and I dont expect them to win their last 2 games.

 
Thanks for the info.....my next question is parking? I checked the Michigan Stadium site and it's pretty unclear.

University lots surrounding the stadium are permit only. But you can get on the golf course for $40, this is directly accross from the stadium, also Pioneer high school which is adjacent to the stadium for ~$30. if you dont mind walking a couple of miles, go down Industrial Street, theres always parking there for ~$25 at a bowling alley. You can also go down a side street near the stadium and park in someones front lawn. Usually for $20. I will put a map together tomorrow, when i get home from work.

Seriously,

park as far away from the stadium as possible if you want to get out of there in a reasonable time frame.

My first time up there I parked pretty close to State St just maybe 1/2 mile from the stadium and it took hours to get onto the highway. HOURS.

If you want to chill after the game for a few hours it shouldn't be so bad.
