Three facts about the game

Wher in the hell was Nate Swift? This game should have been nodifferent than last years game against Michigan. First strike against

coach C.

The reporters better rip him about his f'ing play calling.
No need too. We got all the "know it all" coaches right here on this board! :LOLtartar

I am giving bc a pass untill ut. we better be amped for that game at home
Not I.

Beating the teams that NU is supposed to beat, and rolling over to the elite is not going to get a pass from many Husker fans.

The Players played to win. The effort on the field was good.

Callahan wasn't calling the game to win. Anyone could see he just wanted to keep it as close as possible.

Everyone needs to quit saying that bump and run would of solved our defensive problems. The touchdown scored on Jones was not exactly a set play. Jarrett either had the choice to run a slant or a fade. Jones played the fade so he ran the slant. We ran a bend but don't break defense and we only gave up 28 points. I personally thought that that would have been enough for us to win, but USC came out with a good game plan to take advantage of our DBs and our front seven.

I'd much rather try to defend a fade than a slant. Way too easy. You have to have inside coverage near the goal line.

Since all the talking heads on here are saying we never blitzed shouldn't the OLB of had inside coverage? Just wondering. I would bet that 8 out of 10 times at the spot on the field USC throws a fade. You have to pick your poison.

Our secondary got worked but they got worked by one of the nations best core of wide outs....after tonight jones grixby and the rest of the gang should have no problems covering guys like Blythe and Gordon Sweed....that is a postive that came outta of the game valuable experience covering a guy who will be catching TD's on SUnday come next yr.

How exactly do you get a kid who is 5'9 to play bump and run against an all-american NFL bound 6'5 receiver? You actually think he'll be able to bump him off his route? Grixby would just get pushed into the dirt and left in Jarrett's dust.

Exactly! Jarrett and Smith are fast receivers and are bigger than our CB's. If we play bump and run, the receivers push our CB's out of the way and run past them for what could have been huuuuuuuuuge gains. Playing off the receivers like they did gave our CB's a chance to at least stop them from making the big catches. We don't have the CB's capable of playing bump and run with the likes of Jarrett and Smith. Had Fluellen and Bowman been in the game, it may have been a different story.

This whole thread is nothing more than beating a dead horse :bang :bang :bang :bang dedhoarse dedhoarse dedhoarse dedhoarse
