Is this something that FAU normally does, or are we looking at backlash for sending Carl down there?

I am pretty sure they did this back in 2008 or 2009 in their first trip up. I remember that along with Smellyberger coming to Lincoln being the main stories.

Yea, they did it a couple of years ago.

FAU 2009, Season Opener in Lincoln.

*edit* That video is the 2009 one. Shellenberger retired after that season and Carl left to take the job. This isn't new.
