Time For Beck?

I really like Zach Taylor. He's a gamer. He has shown he's got the moxie, if not the talent, to keep a team in the game.

That being said, I am wondering if it is time to let Harrison Beck play. Why wait until next year to let the kid get exposure, when we can play him now and let him get the feel for DI football.

We are not going to compete for a North title. We need to start playing Beck and the other freshman more, so as to get a jump start on 2006.

The offense can't get much worse.

Oh, and I'm this close to calling for Pederson to either step down or get a new coach. I've pretty much lost faith in BC.

Thoughts?

So you're willing to sell seniors like Cory Ross, Daniel Bullocks, LeKevin Smith, Titus Adams, etc., up the river just to prepare for next year? So just because we aren't competing for a North title the season is a wash? What about those seniors that busted their a$$ and have fought thru some of the darkest years in Nebraska football history and have a shot at least for a bowl game? We're going to throw them under the bus so we can prepare for later?

What exactly has Zac Taylor done this year besides get crushed play after play? What more can he do than put the ball on the money and give our WR's a shot to catch it? Do you think it's worth throwing Beck into the lions den just to get eaten alive? Preparation is one thing, but throwing him into a no-win situation for someone as young is Beck is just frankly absurd.

Don't waste a redshirt. Save him till next year. Zac is doing pretty good, givin the poor OL performance this year.

I agree, Why would you be willing to BURN his red shirt year for a few games that may or may not help him or the team?

Let the seniors and the others that have earned their spot finish this out., and believe me, THEY HAVE EARNED IT.

They know that they were part of one of if not the LOWEST point in HUSKER HISTORY, but they should be able to say that we finished 2005 on a positive note and we NEVER GAVE UP, and that is what the HUSKERS of the future are built on,(work ethics, personal pride and the KNOWLEDGE taht we did the best that we could do) do not forget about the ones that quit after last year and did not "FINISH THE GAME"

We know that Taylor is a tough kid who is willing to give his football life to the TEAM and try to win. Stick Beck in there and you could get him hurt or break his spirit, when he gets pummled like Zach has. Why take the chance?

Zach has made some bad plays and decisions, but he has shown a trait that very few HUSKER QB's have had to or been able to show in their carrers. THE POISE AND ABILITY to help bring the team back from 21+ down and fight untill the end. all while being sacked as much as a bunch of patatos in idaho.

Ask yourself how many of our past GREAT QB's have had to do what this kid has had to deal with, and then remember the GREAT LINES they got to play behind.

This is a YOUNG TEAM with a 1+ year old system, Do not expect perfection out of the gate and the end result will be so much SWEETER when we are back in CONTROL of our opponents and we are the ENVY of the football world.

HAVE FAITH, HUSKER FANS. THE ROAD MAY HAVE A FEW BUMPS IN IT AND WE MAY HAVE A FLAT TIRE NOW AND THEN, BUT WE ARE STILL THE HUSKER NATION AND WE ARE ON OUR WAY BACK TO THE FINISH LINE AND THE CHECKERED FLAG :box

beck has all year next year to get some playin time. he will know the system better if not well at that point and there is no reason to let his confidence sink because they want a change or something like that. the coaches are confident in taylor and that is the reason he is in all the time which is a very good thing, because they dont hold anything back.

Z. Taylor is doing a great job and Beck needs to wait till next year. He can't do anything now except waste a year. We could be set at Q/B for 4-7 years.

My thoughts? You make no sense. Burn a red shirt to use a QB when it realy isn't the QB at all. It's our non blocking OL.

NO

Cuz he'll make too many mistakes

The offense can't get much worse.

Yes it can.

JMO :horns2

Not a bad question, but you DEFINATELY do NOT play Beck this year !!!

Taylor is doing fine.....Hell, he absolutely has no time to set his feet most of the time..... When he does put the ball on the money, there has been many dropped passes...

Yes, Talor has missed open WR, and doesn't always see the field like he should, but remember, this is his 1st season at DI..

This kid is "spunky", and is a "warrior"... He is one of the toughest guys we have had, and he NEVER points fingers at the OL or anyone else !!! He also doesn't shy away from taking the blame or answering tough questions

Taylor acts like he has been a Husker forever....He is proud to be here and believes in the system....

He is not the reason the 'skers are struggling !!!!!

As for Beck....he will be good ( I hope), based only on hype

To waste a red-shirt this late in the season would make about as much sense as wasting Leon Jackson for spotting special teams appearences or Chris Brooks for a few minor plays early in the season when he wasn't healty

If Taylor gets hurt and we are NOT yet bowl eligible and are in a Winnable situation, then, and ONLY then would you even consider playing Beck

Why waste a whole year of playing time for 3 games. We are virtually out of the north race (not completely but its close). Keep him on the sidelines taking mental reps and let him compete against ZT for the spot next year. If he doesn't win the spot, throw him in for a series or 2 each game plus mop-up duty. I might agree with playing Beck if it was 3 or 4 games ago, but not w/ 3 games left.
