Time For Beck?

I agree that Beck needs to be kept on the sidelines this year, but what happens if Taylor gets hurt (not that far fetched of an idea considering all the sacks he's suffered this year)? What about Joe Ganz? I'd like to see him in there getting his feet wet if only for one or two series.

I agree, I would like to see us build some kind of lead so we can play ganz just to see how he is. Like you said, ZT is one play away from getting hurt. It would be nice to see if we had a capable backup.

This is what is really sad. We have 7 QB's I believe on scholly, and none of them besides Taylor has any experience. I'll simply be amazed if Taylor is still walking by the end of the season. Why waste 7 scholly's if you're only going to ever play one QB? I shudder at the thought of facing CU with a QB who's either never played a down or only played a down or two this year!

Given how tight the games have been, in which one - and at what point - would you have inserted a back-up with less experience? Considering that, with the exception of later in the Mizzou game, we've been "in" each game, putting in a different quarterback would be disastrous.

I don't disagree with anything that you said. There have been no games other than possibly the Maine game where a backup would/should have been put into the game. Well, maybe part of the 4th qtr. in the Wake game. I'm just saying it's sad we have 7 people taking up scholarships at the QB position without a backup QB with any experience. I can understand having 3 maybe 4 due to Beck redshirting, but we really could have used the other 3 or 4 scholly's maybe getting a good juco tight end.

Maybe we should have tried to get Dailey to stay. I realize he wasn't ever going to lead us to the promise land, but at least he has game experience running this offense. I'm just not into wasting scholarships on players who will never probably play a down at QB at NU. It's kind of like buying 4 gallons of milk knowing you'll only get through 1 or 2 gallon before the milk sours.
