Tommy Armstrong

carlfense

Heisman Trophy Winner
He had a good game. Moved well in the pocket and for the most part made very good decisions with the ball. He seems more in control than Martinez did . . . which is impressive considering TAs age. He's going to be fun to watch.

I'm interested to see how it plays out vs Stanton. Kind of a bummer to have two good qb's at the same time, but I guess it is a good problem to have. Just hope one of them doesn't get frustrated and transfer.

I agree. I do say he has a lot of work to do, but his skill set is something that makes me feel good about the QB position.

I applaud his situational awareness in NOT getting the safety. He still needs work on throwing the short passes, too many low and behind. Fixable! All in all I'd call it a good game for a Frosh.

TA has had some learning pains, even today..but he stepped in well at the end of the season and led us to a victory over a respected SEC team. If Johnny S takes the staring position, then he'll be pretty damned good. And yes...have two good QBs is awesome as long as they both stick around.

I didn't get to watch/listen to anything but the last quarter as I was traveling. Did Kellogg get any snaps today or was it an all Tommy show?

Kellogg came in one time - IIRC, we ran it once and then had two bad looking pass plays.

Very proud of Armstrong's efforts. There are a few throws he'd love to have back, but he was also on the money with plenty of throws. The sad thing is he had a couple of really, really good passes that were just dropped, including a TD to Turner. And he brought us our first bowl victory in four years.

Most good programs aspire to have more than one good QB on the roster.

Outside of the pick and a few inaccurate throws late, he was money. Several dropped throws, including an absolute dime that would've been for a touchdown. Unless Stanton is crazy good, Armstrong has got to be your guy. An entire offseason of reps and growing in knowledge of the offense and he could be very good.
