Tornado comes through Omaha early Sunday

My wife and I were woken up at about 2:20 am this morning by tornado sirens. Half asleep, I went downstairs and looked out the window. I could barely see anything the rain and wind were so intense, so I hopped on the computer and looked at the live radar. That's when I saw the huge supercell storm that had triggered the tornado warning. It was already right over us, and the sirens had just started! Just then, the power cut out and I decided we needed to go to the basement. We sat there for only a few minutes then the power came back on. I turned the TV on and watched the news until the warning expired at about 2:45. It was a quick moving storm but it sure scared us! It doesn't look like I have any property damage, but I can't say the same for everyone else.

Our power was out from 3:30 to 6:30, there was no property caused directly by the storm, but our basement got flooded because the pump went out along with the power. Too bad no one checked it when we were 10 ft away. I did see a little damage on the roads, but just some smaller sized branches. Hope everyone else is ok also.

We're supposed to have some nasty storms move through once again tonight. This is getting really old now............ <_<

You guys have been getting hammered pretty good this year.

We're supposed to get a few storms possibly this afternoon then 1-2" of rain tomorrow.

Well its rained here for about 3 weeks straight and every storm that comes through is severe and drops 2 inches of rain. We have flooding going on everywhere right now. :angry:

That sounds like us last year. It seemed it never stopped raining around here.

 
Ya my sister got married this past Saturday 6/7/08 and we had family members from Omaha that lived near where the Tornado hit. Luckly they were up here in Sioux City getting drunk for a wedding and away from all of that bad weather.

 
my area got hit pretty hard... right on 120th in between L and Center....our power is still out.... tree branches everywhere... nobody was hurt that i know of ... we're lucky it wasn't worse .... i'll tell you what, you don't realize the value of electricity until you don't have it :bang
