Tour De Camp Practice reports

HuskersNsiders

Summary recap of Jay Norvell and Bill Callahans comments about practice today:

Bill Callahan will be handing out Yellow jerseys each day during fall camp to the offensive, defensive and special teams player of the day who shows hard work and dedication during practice. This in reference to the Tour De France

3 guys received yellow jerseys today (Cory Ross, Frantz Hardy and Stewart Bradley)

(another blackshirts tradition in the making?)

Ross raised some eyebrows today on a few plays during 7 on 7 drills according to Norvell.

Frantz Hardy continues to catch everything that's thrown at him. He has yet to drop a pass and made a one handed catch today that got him some applause

Norvell said Zac keeps pushing people around him and the offensive line is responding well to his snap counts.

Harrison beck still had some passes overthrown and is trying to get the jitters out.

Justin Tomerlin who sat out yesterday during practice in street clothes participated in the drills only and has been cleared to practice with the team now

Bryan Wilson looked good today playing CB on the right side.

Tierre Green seems to have gotton a hand of the CB duties but still has some development to go.

Zac Bowman continues to shake down WR's and TE's and make thier routes misreable

Callahan corrected reports that Titus brothers moved to Free Safety, but rather he was moved to Strong Safety.

Brandon Jackson is still not 100% but he had a good practice today and is trying to keep up with the other running backs.

Leon Jackson, Tyrell Spain, Jordan and Rodney Picou all sat out today watching practice in street clothes untill the NCAA clears them and no further comment was going to be made on them at this time.

Nebraska will practice tommarow outside in the pavillion from 2:15-5 oclock.

Big Red Yellow Jerseys

Key performers stand out

Nebraska Coach Bill Callahan is taking a page from Lance Armstrong and the Tour de France. He will award yellow jerseys every day to the best player on offense, defense, and special teams.

Cory Ross, Stuart Bradley and Frantz Hardy wore them at practice Friday.

Husker fans are hoping that some of the quarterbacks will get to wear those yellow jerseys as well.

Barring any major upheaval, Zac Taylor is going to be the starter but the battle to be his backup could be a heated one.

One thing that the Coach Callahan has tried to do is pick up the pace in fall practice using more of a pro style approach to training camp.

Husker veterans believe this will pay off during the season.

And there should be another Husker on the practice field Saturday. Sean Callahan of Huskers Illustrated.com tells us that freshman defensive end Justin Tomerlin has been cleared to play.

Four other Husker newcomers are still awaiting the OK from the NCAA academic clearinghouse
