Transfers, Cosgrove

Cosgrove to Minnesota?

Picked up a few notes over the last 24 hours . . .

The buzz is Kevin Cosgrove is heading to Minnesota, apparently as defensive coordinator.

Cosgrove was out of coaching this season.

Cosgrove would replace Ted Roof, who recently joined Gene Chizik's staff at Auburn.

Also, former Husker secondary coach Phil Elmassian has landed as defensive coordinator at Illinois State. He was co-coordinator at Louisiana-Monroe this season.

Closer to home, TE Tyson Hetzer -- a juco transfer who joined the Nebraska program last January -- is set to transfer from NU. Hetzer missed spring practice last year with a knee injury and didn't make the 105-man roster for the start of fall camp.

Also, WR Matt Donahue -- who joined the program last January as a walk-on after playing as a true freshman at Ohio -- is turning his attention to track at NU. He'll no longer play football.

That's too bad, just as Minnesota got things turned around a bit we have to watch their defense fall apart now.

They thought it was bad when Iowa dismantled them last game of the year, wait till Cosgrove get his grubby hands in there.

Cosgrove wasn't bad as the D coordinator at Wisconsin...and its a lot easier to stop big 10 offenses, just pack the box and stop the run since none of the teams can pass worth a damn.

Even with the background on this subject, I hope the best for Coz. Remember he has a family to support and none of them need or deserve all the negitivity. I wish him and his family nothing but the best.... there!

GOOOOOOOOOOD LUCK gophers....what were they smoking? seriously, the guy own every record at nu for having the worst defense ever ( nearly every defensive categories)....time have passed him by....as far as hetzer transfering out, it's actually a good thing ....he was never really going to contribute anyway and most importanly it frees up a scholie....

i have no hatred for cosgrove: it just didn't work out at nebraska and i wish him the best of luck..

hopefully, over this last year he's done some research and has come-up with some ideas further his team's success.

btw; this post should probably be moved to 'other sports/college football or former huskers'.

No hate for Cosgrove, he seemed like a nice enough guy.

But, he was making about $206,000 a year living in Lincoln. He should have saved some money at that salary for his family. Another overpaid coach.

I don't hate Cosgrove, I just don't think he's much of a coach or coordinator. His team did lose their blackshirts after all. No hard feelings though. Good luck to Kevin and the gophers..I guess..........

No loss with Hetzer. He was an enigma from the beginning.
Yeah plus we are pretty set on tight ends anyway

I think if our tight ends wouldn't have produced like they did, the staff would have tried to keep him. But it's in the best interest for both parties to split ways now, and hopefully lands someplace where he has a better chance to contribute. Good luck Mr. Hetzer :cheers
