Taken from Wikipedia "There is a five-year show-cause penalty on Tressel, which means any NCAA member that wants to hire him would have to "show cause" for why it shouldn't be sanctioned for hiring him, and could face severe penalties if he commits any further violations during that time. The order stands until December 19, 2016; given past precedent, it will likely have the effect of blackballing Tressel from the coaching ranks until the 2017 season. If Tressel ever coaches again during this period, he will be suspended for the first five games of the regular season, plus any conference championship game or bowl game."

Is there any chance of getting Tressel as head coach next year? I like the idea of a proven winner, but I do not like the shady past, although it is fairly minor in comparison to some other programs.

 
Many are keen on this idea. Id prefer to keep our program clean. He does have a proven track record though. If he could control the teams behavior and avoid breaking NCAA rules he would be a good hire. He worries the crap outta me though.

 
What track record guys. Outside of that one incident. What's his track *record*. He was no more egregious as the almighty Osborne was.

 
If the NCAA is willing to forgive some punishment for a decade of child rape I would hope they'd negotiate some tattoos and not ratting out players.

 
It has the potential to be a great thing for both parties. I suspect he'd run the cleanest program in the nation just because of the microscope he'd be under.

 
his transgression is pretty forgettable when you know the ncaa is scared after the o'bannon case.

lying to the ncaa was stupid, no doubt. but kids getting in trouble for selling their private property is also pretty stupid. we know this now.

 
How about we fire Bo and hire a young offensive minded coach that is winning. The game has changed some since Tressel was a coach.

I didn't know you thought Tom Osborne was such a bad coach... he was offensive minded...

Then again, this defensive minded coach isn't working out so well either. Maybe we should go get a rugby coach? Or a Canadian football coach. I'm sure that'll be much better.
