I had no reason to dislike tOSU when JT was the coach. I can't tell you how many times I swore at the vest just by accidentally turning the game on, but it was A LOT. I hate the vest. Not the man. The vest. It's ridiculous!!!!!!! haha

Tressel is the guy I would like to get as well. Outside of a tattoo issue with some players, what else has he been involved with that would warrant not trying to get this guy? He has succeeded at multiple levels of football, and in the years I watched him at OSU, he had his team ready to go every week. A couple of items to note:
1. From 2001-2010, Tressel had one blowout loss of 30 points or more. In 6-plus seasons at Nebraska, Pelini has had five
2. OSU competed in BCS-caliber bowls in 8 of 10 seasons, played in 3 NCGs, and won one.
3. Tressel has much greater connections to Ohio and that region than Pelini has from his days at Youngstown state.

He's honestly the most logical choice to me that's obtainable, he's a proven winner, knows what it takes to win in the B1G and always has his teams prepared. I know he comes with some risks from the whole tattoo issue, but I bet he would walk the line like crazy to make sure there were no issues.
The university isn't going to just drive down to Alabama and offer Nick Saban 10 million dollars. What says he's successful here anyways? He may not be able to recreate that success here. Then again, Tressel may not be able to either...........

I agree, plus Tressel may enjoy leading another Big 10 to elite status. My only question is...can he bypass his current clause that is in effect til 2016? I'm not sure how that would work.

He can be reinstated, but the University would have to show cause as to why they shouldn't be sanctioned for what he did. He would be suspended the first 5 games and not be able to coach in the CCG or bowl game. At least this is what I've heard, but I think Nebraska could make a pretty strong case against being sanctioned. We run a pretty clean program right now.

Jim Tressel has retired from coaching, fellas. He's happy where he is right now.
Besides - why would Nebraska want to go on a possible five year sanction after the show-cause? If that were the case, we'd just keep Bo where he is for the next five years, LOL

And you know he's retired from it for sure how? He'd take a coaching job at a top level school if he was offered it and things were right. Nebraska needs to get back to being Nebraska, they would probably toy with the idea of the sanctions if they thought it was the right thing for the program to get it back on the right track with the results that are expected. Nothing says the NCAA won't listen to a argument about the sanctions.

The sanctions might be worth the risk to be honest. Really our 1st 5 games of the year are agianst patsyes anyway with the exception of 1 big game, in which case Bo has a 50/50 chance to be blown out in on National TV. I'm sure a Tressel assistant could do just as well as Bo does now in the 1st 5 games. Doesn't mean Tressel cant oversee practices or game planning, just cant coach in those games. As for CCG and Bowl game agian the same premise applies. I dont think its that big of risk and might actually pay dividends in the long run.
But we are waaaaaay ahead of ourselves here considering Bo is still here. However, it is nice to see we have gotten over the Eeyore attitude of "who will we find to coach here?"......anyone, just pony up!

If it weren't for his age, I would tell NU to go for it. When JT was hired, I was like "WTH"? But I saw how quickly he changed the mindset of the Buckeyes into being a competitive team. Aside from the Florida NCG I don't remember too many on field debacles from JT coached teams.
