Asbury, NJ -- Officials are investigating how an off-duty parole officer's pistol accidentally discharged, wounding three restaurant workers in Asbury Park.
Lieutenant Mark Lucia has been placed on administrative leave since Sunday night's incident.
The shooting happened after a private party at Posillipo's.
A spokesman for the Attorney General's Office says for some reason, Lucia and his brother, who is an Eatontown police officer, stayed behind.
The people who were struck by the single gunshot are restaurant workers who were cleaning up.
Two were treated and released. The third is hospitalized.
The gun was Lucia's personal weapon.
