Troy could be tough

but you got to remember, FSU doesn't have that great of an offense, and the same arguement could be made for Georgia Tech couldn't it?

You are absolutely right. I am just impressed that Troy was not intimidated by those programs. I believe NU will win. I'm not overlooking the possibility, reality, etc, that it will be a difficult game if the Huskers dont give it their best.

I have to believe from what I heard Bradley say during the Coach Callahan show today that they won't be overlooking Troy at all. I think they will take care of the little Trojans.

GBR!!!

Yeah I think I read that they run the spread offense thats not good cause we are thin at DB but on the other hand they gave up 300yards on the ground last game if we run the ball well and try to pass this game I believe we will win by 3 touchdowns ! We also need to get our pass rush going again too !

I think it will be a shootout until halfway through the 3rd Quarter when their QB throws a pick and we run it back for a TD and that's when they start to get down on themselves and we pick them apart from there. :restore
If our DBs can catch the ball :bang

:WTH

The need to come out and put this one out of reach before half time....i dont know that they will i think Troy will play us pretty competitvly but i really hope this one isnt close

GO BIG RED!!!

We do run the spread offense in the same manner as Mike Leach at Tx Tech. He and our OC, Tony Franklin worked together in developing this offense, and Franklin has consulted many high schools in the SE to implement this offense. It is light years ahead of our offenses since we came up to I-A a few years ago.

As for GT getting 300 yards on the ground, this is the result of an achilles heel we have with dual-threat QBs. Brad Smith of Mizzou got us 2 out of 3 games, as did Seneca Wallace when he was at Iowa St. If you look at our history against drop-back passers, it's a little different.

Overall though, if we can't keep our Defense off the field, we will wear out early in the game. In the first 3 trips to Lincoln, we generally have stayed with ya'll for half the game. As for this one, I expect like FSU and GT, we will hang with you through 3, and then we will wear out.

And what Coach Blakeney said about the hospitality and friendliness of the fans, and everyone there, he speaks the truth, but then again you can afford to be nice to someone when you're expecting to kick their a$$. From Troy fans, I have never heard a disparaging comment about their experiences in Lincoln.

Good Luck, but hopefully we will have the opportunity to be around at the end and have a shot.

welcome troy87......i would say you guys got a real shot at winning this game, based on how you played the last 2 games and the fact that you play hard on the road....good luck

This should be a good game for Andre Jones. This is a chance for him to step up and get some great experience. He has a lot of talent and should get better and better with every game he plays.

The trojans have changed to more of a passing offense and they have a good QB to run it. Omar Haugabook threw for over 2700 yards last season at his JC.

Welcome Troy87 and thanks for the insight!!!! :thumbs Good luck on Saturday and I hope we win in the end!!! (you can understand that since you want your team to win right???)

Does anyone know the size of their receivers!!!! I'm looking at size disadvantages to see how our DB's will fair!!!! I think it will be a shootout until halfway through the 3rd Quarter when their QB throws a pick and we run it back for a TD and that's when they start to get down on themselves and we pick them apart from there. :restore
Their top receivers from last season:

Hampton 6 - 1 175

Banks 6 - 1 196

Rutledge 6 - 2 199

Williams 5 - 10 162

Allen 5 - 10 192

They also have 3 or 4 big TE's that are 6 - 3 and 6 - 4 but they probably won't use them too much.

I hope that we come out with a chip on our shoulder. After te USC game , we have a lot of doubters.

OWH Article
LINCOLN - Troy coach Larry Blakeney has visited Memorial Stadium three times with his football team and marveled on every trip at the courtesy and respect extended by the Nebraska personnel and fans.

Just once, he'd like to give them reason to act some way other than courteous.

"They're so nice in Nebraska," Blakeney said Monday as the Trojans began preparations for their 6 p.m. meeting Saturday with the Huskers in Lincoln. "I would just love to go out there and kick their tail one time, just to see how nice they really are."
Here's the whole quote from Coach Blakeney's Monday press conference;

"I’d like to go out there and kick butt one time and see how nice they really are," Blakeney said. "It’s really something to be said for the kind of sportsmanship in Lincoln. They’re mighty good football fans who understand both teams play hard."
