Didn’t Israel attack Iran October 26, 2024? And invade Gaza in 2024 as well? This was a powder keg no matter who would’ve been President. Sounds like we didn’t provide any help to Israel. Granted that is the propaganda post that was claimed by US officials.

What I remember is Trump blaming Biden for absolutely every war or military action that happened anywhere in the world while claiming none of them would have occurred if he were President. Then he claimed he would end every one of them on day one of his 2nd term. And what has actually happened? He has directly contributed to the escalation of hostilities in Gaza and Ukraine, has effectively supported Russia and Putin, emboldened Israel to start more shìt with Iran and has generally made the world a much less safe place.

But sure….a simple that place is a powder keg covers it I guess.

I suppose I still don’t get it. Israel essentially performed a shaping operation to remove Iranian air defense assets. This was a setup for the big attack we will be seeing. I think rather this would’ve actually happened sooner if not for Trump’s attempt at brokering a peace deal. I think he truly did delay the inevitable at least. Granted there has to be two willing parties. Not only that..but this is not going to lead to WW3. Outside of their proxy groups Iran is rather despised by their neighbors. Hopefully this brings upon the eventual downfall of the Iranian government as we know it and thus cutting off equipment to iranian shadow groups in the region

Everyone with a functioning brain knew it was going to happen no matter who is in office.  Only Trump and his cult were stupid enough to think Trump would keep it from happening.

Not sure why this is hard to understand.

My only thought is that this has a very small chance of turning into WW3. Regional conflict..sure yes. Granted trump himself used that for max inflammatory pressure even if it was an outright lie. 
 

I have a low value of Israel but at this point it’s potentially in our best interest to join in as well and level the f#&%ing place and kill the last rats surviving in the Iranian government and their underground nuclear facilities Israel doesn’t have the capability to hit.

I'm rather nervous at this point to be involved with this.  Not saying it's not the right thing to do, but I'm nervous.  Iran finances a lot of terrorism.  They have explicitly said that the US will suffer from this.  Also, I'm not a real fan of using our military for regime change around the world.  It usually doesn't work out well.

Meanwhile, we have severely weakened our intelligence agencies with totally inept leadership.

This is not a recipe for good things.

The general understanding in the intelligence community is that Israel doesn't attack Iran without at least the tacit approval of the U.S. Iran will declare it a U.S. attack regardless. It's a risky gambit, but not all that risky if you look at Iran's history of angry threats followed by doing nothing. Still, these times are a bit more fraught.  

The problem is that Iran has a large population of young, educated professionals who have generally been pro-Western in recent years, but have not been able to overthrow the mullahs who rule as a repressive theocracy with a huge Persian chip on their shoulder. You do not want to "level the place" because that's the quickest way to get potential allies to be your sworn enemy for generations. 

It's kinda funny how our rightwing xenophobes are always rooting for the overthrow of Islamic rulers and don't notice that they are siding with the college educated, science-friendly, culturally liberal, global-minded, and demonstration-happy folks they despise when they're Americans. 

 
Remember that missile defense system Trump's wants to blow trillions on? Israel arguably has the most advanced one in the world covering a territory less than the size of New Jersey, and it wasn't even 100% effective against only 100 missles. There is no possible way that could be implemented across the entire North American continent, work, and not completely bankrupt the country.
