Is it wrong that I feel slightly better that AI calculated the tariffs rather than any actual Trump admin human? I wouldn’t trust them with successfully pouring piss out of a boot.

Several members of President Trump’s embattled National Security Council have been fired, a U.S. official and a second source familiar told Axios on Thursday.

Why it matters: The firings come a day after conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer visited the Oval Office and pressed Trump to fire specific NSC staffers. Axios has not confirmed whether the firings were directly linked to that incident, but the source familiar said they were “being labeled as an anti-neocon move.”

Behind the scenes: The U.S. official said Loomer was furious that “neocons” had “slipped through” the vetting process for administration jobs, referring to hawkish foreign policy views commonly associated with the Bush administration.

Remember that podcast he did with Elon before the election where he sounded like Sylvester the cat? One of the things they talked about was how nuclear weapons arent so bad because Hiroshima is a thriving city today. God help us all. 

 
To a wannabe-autocrat, starting a war probably sounds like a good idea. Rally the populace against a common enemy, that kind of thing. He probably thinks voters won't vote him out, much like FDR and Truman - and Zelenskyy.

It's interesting because a lot of MAGA were casting Trump as the anti-war president -- which is historically consistent with America First style isolationism. More specifically, anti-war Trump catered to our withdrawing from Ukraine vs. Russia.

At least you could make an economic case for scaling down our military ambitions. But no. 

Given that he's a man of superlatives, it looks like Donald Trump is willing and able to give us The Worst of All Worlds. 

 
As discussed above, Trump is an idiot who is blowing up the world economically and at the same time wants to start a war with Iran if they don't bow down to his way of thinking.   He wants to prove that he is the world's ultimate strong man.    GOP better find some balls and start opposing their cult leader.  Chances of that happening 1%.

IF Iran does not sit down with US diplomats to discuss scrapping its nuclear ambitions on Saturday, massive bombing raids - and the prospect of an extended and costly US/Iran conflict could result, a national security expert warned today. Historically Tehran has refused to meet US negotiators as a matter of political principle but Donald Trump is demanding face-to-face meetings with top political and military brass from both nations.

He has already announced the two countries will meet in Oman on Saturday - but Iran almost immediately contradicted the president insisting the talks would be conducted through an intermediary. Speaking from the White House’ Oval Office last night Trump warned Iran “would be in great danger” if the projected talks were stymied. He said: “We're having direct talks with Iran, and they've started. It'll go on Saturday.
