Tunnel Walk

Am I the only one that is totally dissappointed with the obvious attempt to make everyone in the Nation forget the last 4 years? I understand that there were plenty of crappy times, however it is sad if Zac Taylor, B-Jax, Grixby, Carriker, Bowman, Octavien, Stew Bradley, Nunn, Ross, T.Green and some more of the players from those years get washed away with the previous staff. I'm sorry but yesterday it had one of the Kelsey Brothers on it, which is fine but compared to Carriker come on now. Zac Taylor busted his arse off to hold tihs program together, was Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and also won a North title but as it would appear based off the first 3 videos no football has been played since 2001 around here. (except the Alamo footage with Pelini) I understand the "Get Back" stuff that is going on and all the "Got Bo, BOnes, Bo Big Red" junk but lets not forget some of the guys that gave their all for this University and this State. Crap Larry Phillips, The Jet, Bullet Butt, Farrely and others have done things that should have embarressed the Nation yet they can shown on the Big Screen.

Any bets that the first Callahan era guy (not counting current kids) to make one of the videos is Barrett Ruud and it will be from either 2002 or 2003.

There is one thing for sure there was a lot of this going on in the staduim  :leghump: :leghump: :leghump: :leghump: :leghump: :leghump: :leghump: :leghump:

:boxosoap :rant :koolaid2:

I dont think the BC era is still a bit raw for many in the program. I cant blame them. Everything that they built was unceremoniously tossed aside by Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. We fans have an appreciation for certain players, and I do think after the next couple of years, Taylor, Carriker, and possibly Ross will be considered "great" Huskers by the program. To be fair, I didnt see any players from the Jennings era, among others, showcased. Any issues with those coaches players being slighted?

Not really considering I was born at the end of 1974 so the Jennings era and his players aren't really fresh in my mind.

Better becareful about your rant, some of the "true fans" on here won't take a liking to that. :sarcasm

Seriously though, this first year is going to be about restoring the "family" of Husker Nation, and reconnecting to those who felt left out in the cold.

In the future, those like you mentioned will get their due, because they, like all of the other greats deserve it.

They gave their heart, mind, and body to this program, it was just unfortunate that they were at the right place but the wrong time.

I'm sure you are right. Maybe I'm a weirdo but Zac taylor is one of my All Time Favorites and I just don't want folks to forget what that guy did for this program.

I'l keep my eyes open for the attacks from the "True Fans" :thumbs

I'm not normally a QB fan, but I agree with you. the grit ZT had made a big impression on me and he will always be one of my favorite Huskers.

I too am pretty disappointed in this year's tunnel walk. I agree that there is pretty much no mention of any of the exciting times of the last four years, yet there are things that from those times which a) are fresh in people's mind and b) are FRIGGING EXCITING! (i.e. Purfy's A&M catch.) However, the fact that stuff like that is missing is not my biggest problem with it.

My biggest problem with it is that it just plain sucks! It drives me mild. It never comes to a head IMO. Yea, it has the crushing of the opponents helmets which is required IMO but that's about it. It's sort of half-assed if you ask me.

I am glad they haven't broke out the national championship trophies, though. The "statute of limitations", so to speak, has run out on those.

Oh and ZT > *. It would have been dandy if he's have delivered a bit more in the Big 12 title game that year, but hey. He couldn't do it all himself.

I liked the tunnel walk quite a bit, but had not thought about this at all. It's a good tunnel walk, overall, but you're right, it's a bit of snub at BC-era players who nevertheless provided plenty of highlight reels.

A big problem people seem to have with BC is that he was snubbing former players. So it should be simple where those people would stand here.

Seriously, let's see some Maurice Purify winning TD catch, some Zac Taylor (you know, the trailblazer who blasted us into this era of offense), BJax taking it to Texas, Cortney Grixby KO return, Bo Ruud pick-6...

This is kind of tunnel walk related: What happened to fly overs? They've had some kick a$$ ones in the past few years..

I appreciate what these players did...But...What Highlights?

The only one I can picture is the jump-ball catch by Purify to win against aTm, but nothing "highlight reel" worthy sticks out.

The Offenses we ran were mostly "Dink & Dunk" and the Defense was a study in Matador.

I think its OK to leave it out for the time being. there are enough jerks out there that would boo any sight of a Cally era player... Leave it alone for this year and bring some in next year... The tunnel walk is supposed to be positive, and having some jack a$$ booing would really ruin it....

From what I have heard fly overs are what is available.. They had some black hawks for the first game and a Chinook last week.. I guess nothing was in the area on Saturday....

Oh sweet jesus Natalie Gulbis!!!! Hot as hell!!!!! Sorry.....................got distracted everyone. I agree that it's a shame that those players are being forgotten. Those guys were outstanding players and true Huskers that I hated to see go. I bought my #13 jersey when Taylor was our QB and he was my favorite Husker. That guy had some serious heart!
