Turner and KU

What's going on with that situation? KU is historically bad this year and its not like Turner walked into a horrible situation. Is his head coaching formula a little off? :dunno

I have a feeling his is gonna be done this year!!! I think he should have taken his staff from Buffalo with him over to KU because these guys are stinking it up and I dont wanna put it on Turner but thats how it is going to go....

Yes, he did.

There was no talent left on that team when Mangino left, Mangino would have been awful the following year had KU not fired him.

Turner should not have taken the job at KU unless he truly felt like his success at Buffalo was a fluke.

Kansas has had about 4 good seasons since 1968. They're bad this year, but you gotta give a head coach 4 years to see if he can turn it around. If they're still bad after 4 years, then they have to make a change, but acting before that would just show a lack of patience.

In 2002, they were 2-10.

In 2001, they were 3-8.

In 1988, they were 1-10.

And they've had a few other seasons like that since their last conference championship in 1968. Kansas football is Nebraska basketball. They have they occasional, very rare good season, and other than that they're either mediocre or bad. This season is nothing new for Kansas football, and I still think it's premature to fire Gill. Gotta give the guy four years, let him get his guys in there and let him teach his scheme.

Turner's days are numbered.....KU (for the most part) understand's their place in College Football.....its to go 6-6 and compete to play in a bowl game.....however, he still isn't living up to those standards

6-6 is not their place. Its sub .500 with a bowl about 2 of every 5. Look at it this way. Mangino had something like 52 wins, and was their all time wins leader at head coach.

THe team he has now does have some talent. Turner has recruited some good kids. The defense is bad, thoguh, and the defensive coordinator got cnacer and could not coach this year, so it is the 3rd guy in 3 years and we are really weak on that side of the ball. We do have some good young players, particularly on offense. The issue is the team is undisciplined and makes a lot of mistakes, particularly on defense. Turner does have to own that. As for his staff, he picked em all. He did nto keep anyone (although later brought back Beatty, who he nearly kept but originally did not). We have not sucked this bad in a while, we are not really competing a lot the last two years. Mangino's teams usaully copeted, but I do agree the talent was light (although not completely gone) when Gill arrived.

I don't see another KU win on that schedule. You'd think they'd be used to it though. I mean, KU experienced nearly 100 years of crappy football before Mangino came along. THen they fired him for speaking harshly to their youngsters.

The big12 is a tough conference to have no defense. It's too bad but I don't care if your daughter was at Ku...It's a bad job. At least Buffalo was a can't lose job.
