Turner Gill to Auburn?

Yeah, talk about a step up to a big time program. I have alot of respect for Auburn and actually root for them sometimes. I think it would be a great hire for Auburn and Turner. :thumbs

Would be compelling to watch if Auburn showed real interest.

If Gill stays at Buffalo, he would more than likely become their "Bobfather." But coaching in a BCS conf. at a name school like Auburn would be hard to turn down. It might depend on how much he wants to stick around his current AD and if he wants to try and build that program over the long haul. And, if he wants to put himself in a situation where the pressure is on to win immediately.

He'll be successful anywhere he goes. I'm sure he's still got one eye on NU. But of course, that depends on how long Bo stays around.

When TO's successor for AD takes office and Bo leaves for some reason (I hope he stays) then Gill's time becomes right to coach at NU (after Frank, idiot AD; after BC, too close of a relationship with TO and maybe not ready to meet the immediate need).

And BCS conference experience would be nice for Gill to have before he were to come back here.

Turner's a real hot name now after what he has done in Buffalo. Three years prior to his arrival, 4 wins total. This year alone he doubled that total. Unbelievable job he is doing there. Auburn would be a very demanding job with more expectations and much more pressure. It would also be a very high profile job.

I wish him the best wherever he goes, but I think he needs to be at Buffalo at least a couple more years.

God I hope not. I wouldn't wish that job on anyone.

True dat...From the sounds of it, the athletic department is ran by an extremely wealthy alumni base. I don't think Mike Leach is a good fit their either. I see Turner ending up at Syracuse, or possibly TCU should Gary Patterson decide to take another job.

I think he is out too......smart move for him with this timing...but man, I hope he doesn't go to Auburn. Look at what Tuberville did, and it wasn't good enough. Too much southern "boosters" running that program, not the university.

Auburn already asked permission to speak with him but I don't know how that went but if he lands at Auburn it will be a great step for him and I am sure he will do well

same could have been said about buffalo not that long ago.
No, not really.

Auburn fired a great football coach. If Turner doesn't win a championship in 3 years he'll be gone.

That and to have to put up with all that booster bullcrap. Forget about it.
