Nebraska had gone up 42-0 on the Taylor to Purify pass. Then the coaches allowed Taylor to return on another series possibly to attempt a fifth TD pass. That series sputtered. Then he was allowed one more attempt only to fail to produce. That won't cut it against USC. Sure USC will likely stop Nebraska on several series but this week was supposed to be about execution and tuning up for next week. Certainly the low point for the game.

 
The enitire team seemed to lose something about halfway through the 3rd, but that happens when you are overwhelming a subpar opponent.

 
Often when the game is lopsided, the second unit comes in and the team shows a renewed spark. The 2nd / 3rd team have a different reason for playing other than to win..... that is to show the coaches that they are ready to step in and play at a higher level.

I can't understand why the coaches didn't turn the game over to the back-ups a little earlier.

 
Wow, we complained last year about the second string getting no playing time, and now we are complaining about how early the second string gets in. I guess we will never be happy.

 
At least the second string is playing. Finally seeing Ganz, I am not as worried if ZT goes down, though I would still be worried. But I am happy to see these guys at least. It's great. We won 56-7. We shouldn't be complaining.

 
I was surprised that Beau Davis got in the game. Ganz needs a lot of playing time. As we get into conference play Ganz may not get as many opportunities to get into games.

 
I am excited to see Ganz played. He is not too bad, and has made some good throws. Hopefully we continue to see more of him, at the end of games in garbage time.

No, the backups were in on the big play that caused that touchdown.. with the exception of a couple of starters..

Though besides about two positions, the second string defensive members play just about as much as the first string. I don't think that we had our third string in there on that long run. But give Nicholls some credit when you run that many times, you are bound to break one long run.
