hello, my name is hack and i have a confession to make to huskernation.
i occasionally watch premier leauge football.
there. i said it. i won't take it back.
it's a guilty pleasure. watch football in england is fun because the crowd really get into it. the chants, the cheers, it's all good. sometimes they get too into it, but that's another story.
heck, i'll watch mexican and brazil matches too.
and i'm not ashamed. no sir. not me.
what i won't watch, however is american soccer.
why? why one, but not the other?
for the exact opposite reason i find premiership action so intoxicating: the crowd just doesn't get into it. there's hardly ever a crowd and when they get there they act like they just don't get it.
and y'know what: americans don't have to 'get it'. not when they've got hockey, football (REAL), basketball, golf, baseball and NASCAR to compete for their attention. hell, world tour poker is more exciting that american soccer.
i fear soccer will always be marginal in the US, not because it's not any fun to watch, but because there's way too much competition.
