UN FING BELIEVALBE

A defensive lineman had to catch the rb on one play while the safteies and corners were right next to him.\
I know which play you are complaining about and you obviously have no clue what you are talking about. If the saftey would have continued pursuit in the same direction, he would have been out of position to make the tackle and the RB would have SCORED. Instead, he made an adjustment, which SLOWED THE RUNNER so that the Lineman could make the tackle. If the lineman isnt there, at least after the adjustment, the safety is in position to tackle the runned farther down the field.

Good point, he did keep him from scoring

Im in college, so maybe i can offer a little insight as to why we obvioulsy didnt play as well as we believe we can. Football players get up at about 6 am every morning to go lift weights. They go and veg out in classes for awhile, and than hit the practice field late in the afternoon. Go from that to arriving in Winston Salem friday night, sleeping in crap hotel beds that are uncomfortable. Couple that with a bunch of nervous energy (game the next day), and what do you get, no sleep. That + 11 am game, which is 10 am where they were = very sluggish performance. NO ONE played well. Lucky was hesistant, Keller was, lets face it, not good at all, and the receivers once again dropped a few balls. The defense could not get off blocks, could not get pressure with the front four, were not holding their containment, and seemed to play much slower than usual. I really think the secondary bailed us out in that game. Yes, they gave up what should have been two huge plays, and yes, they werent exactly helpful in stopping the end around (allthough im not sure if that is their responsibility), but other than that, they basically shut down a pretty darn good passing team. My feelings are that a win on the road against a bcs team is gonna be tough, no matter what, and that with our schedule, if we go out and win 10, 11, or 12 games, no one is gonna care how much we beat wake by in week 2

You want to know whats unf*cking believable:

After our first game, everyone is saying how great we are and how we're going to beat USC. Our running game is phenominal, our defense is fast and great and our coaches are God's.

Now we go on the road, play a good W.F. team (that NONE of our fans were even caring about cause USC was on the horizon) and barely win and we stir up the fire Callahan and Coz talk. I would love to blame Coz for biting on the play fake and not being in position to make the tackle on the reverse, but what, he's on the dagnabit sideline. NFL players have a hard time staying in position to make a stop on that play (just watch Denver and there never ending string of bootlegs).

The point is our defense and offense never showed up. Defensive PLAYERS were out of position and our O-line struggled, but we still gutted out the W.

all road teams go through the same crap, no different for us or anyone else on the road, they all have the same routine and challenges.

everyone was jacked after the Nevada game, a game against a 2nd tier team at best. the stuggles against WF should have come as no surprise. we are still a work in progress and we are not "there" yet.

Great post!!! It comes down to guys staying home and keeping with their assignments. When players start to anticipate too much you start to get some big plays like this. On the end around the defensive end should be staying home on that play and blowing that play up!!!!

Well college kid, I played college football and what your saying isn't close to the truth but I understand what you mean. First, every team goes through it and I am sure Nebraska was in N.C. early enough to give the team time to rest. Bed check is usually 10 pm anyway. Also, Wake is only 1 hr ahead of us so they would have been just as tired by getting up early and the game was at noon. Everyone goes through the same stuff so that is a terrible excuse. The only advantage is playing in front of their fans, which in reality was more in fron of our fans.

At this point, it seems like we are always going to be a work in progress. I think a lot of people would feel better about yesterday if we had come out and played like a well-oiled machine rather than a slow, inconsistent, and out-of-position team. Not to mention we play like this before one of our hugest games in Lincoln.

I think you have a valid point. I'll give one example by way of a question. Can Keller get comfortable and establish a chemistry with the team in a single season? Seems like a tall order, although I guess there are examples of a new QB coming in and doing very well. Maybe it will happen, but still not an easy thing to accomplish. I suppose if the WRs run good routes, stop dropping balls, and if Keller reduces mental mistakes and improves accuracy we'll be a good deal of the way there.

Keller's % still came out ok even with the dropped passes and overthrows. It seems like it could have been very good but for those things.

Anyway, there's nothing more frustrating than seeing potential overcome by slop. I think most of us don't believe the team played up to full potential. However, it is still early in the year and I'm not ready to :madash :madash :madash :madash :madash :madash :madash :madash

Defensively, I thought we played conservative most of the game. When we did go into man and brought some blitz, we saw some resutls.

I think the heat took its toll. Bowman after the pick looked like he was going to ralph any second. The LB's looked slow.

Sure, ther were some breakdowns - also some injuries.

BTW - Watching Bears/Chargers... Mike Brown with a pick! :bonez

but we still gutted out the W.
2-0 my brother :bonez :corndance :corndance
That's all that matters.

But I think it's a mixture of three things:

1) Our skers' were overlooking a VERY GOOD ( i can't stress that enough, no matter how many of you deny it) Wake Forest team, that had a little more to prove than we did.

2) Cally and Coz played a little conservative as to not give Carrol and SC much tape to study. Very Vanilla, but hey it's still a W.

3) FIRST ROAD GAME OF THE YEAR. At this point getting a W on the road is hard enough let alone against THE DEFENDING ACC CHAMPS, WHO GAVE A GOOD LOUISVILLE TEAM A GAME IN THE ORANGE BOWL

This "Keller is rusty" excuse is just BS, he is a RS senior. He needs to get his sh#t together and stop acting like a wide eyed freshman. He clearly has the physical tools, but lacks the decicion making and consistancy that is needed from that position. Practice is over, go f'ing play.

WR's have even less of an excuse. They have been in this program for too long to drop as many balls as they do. When Keller decides to actually throw one to thier hands it would be nice if they would just go ahead and catch the f'ing thing.

What in the hell is the problem with our safeties? Blown coverages, poor tackling, bad pursuit angles................ :WTH I hope this was just road jitters, or an under rated WF team, but the skers need to get it together soon or this will be a very long season as the schedule is brutal.

I get your point, and i don't disagree...But, there's a difference between running the scout team and managing this offense.
