I really would like to see an all-black uni with a matte black helmet, including black shoes and shoes. Black and red is a bad-a$$ color combo, and is quite intimidating, if used correctly... would be kinda cool to have a "Black-Out" night and give the fans a break from the red every week.

In a way jerseys do win games. Alternate jerseys and uniform contracts attract players. The logo on the uniform matters more than you think. Look at Oregons success. You don't think that has any relation to their connection with Nike? I'm sure kids hate opening their locker to brand new equipment and apparel. Yes Nebraska has a long tradition but for the kids that are on the roster right now, that tradition is dim because they were toddlers during the years of Nebraska dominance. Also if you look back at the progression of uniforms, the only similarity between years is that the jersey is red, the pants are white and there's a stripe somewhere. Nebraska needs help with recruiting because of its location and alternate jerseys are a good way to do that.

The ones we wore were just too "out there". Too much change. stick with traditionals, but maybe mix up color schemes a bit. All reds. Red shirt, black pants. Outlines around the numbers. Normal with black helmets. So on and So on.

Here's a little mock up I did of a jersey idea. I think it would be cool to see a black variation of the regular jersey. Instead of the glossy black helmet I would prefer the matte finish, but this is about the best I could do.

There isn't enough playing dress-up in football. This should really bring in the pre-teen girl demographic.
