LJSThe University of Nebraska expects to pay Lincoln more than $50,000 for the work of city police officers on home gamedays, based on a contract for that work.
Gamedays are a partnership between UNL and the city police, said Chief Jeff Bliemeister.
The police direct traffic in the downtown area before and after a game, on the city’s dime.
But in between they head to Memorial Stadium, where they help UNL police with security, and that’s on the university’s dime.
NU pays the overtime pay rate plus the cost of employee benefits for each officer, so NU reimburses the city for actual costs, Bliemeister said.
