UNL President: B1G Football Announcement To Be Made Tonight

You all are going to have to apologize to Sir Yaht. Especially if it’s a mid Oct date.

If we're willing to ignore all of the other guesses. He's not dumbt, he only floated plausible timelines. But his method was just to chuck out enough reasonable stuff that something was bound to be true eventually. Then sidestep the bad guesses and focus on the ones that were right!

Pretty funny reaction from Herbie

Just saw on BTN at 4PM a replay of the 1995 Orange Bowl

how fitting if there is an announcement that Big10 has College Football season

Let us, then, be up and doing,
   With a heart for any fate;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait.

Sort of the same style as that psychic from years ago (Jeanne Dixon?) that would make ~100 predictions at the start of the year about celebrities, then when one or two of them would come true, crow about how great she was.

He guessed so many things he was bound to be close on one of them. Remember this one?

How is that a guess and where is the inaccuracy that B1G ADs didn’t want to shoot for a start date that aligned with most of CFB kicking off the season?

If he’s stealing info then that’s one thing, but his tweet doesn’t mention a prediction.

I agree that the B1G has screwed the pooch b1gtime handling this particular issue. But if that is anyone's sole focus on which conference we belong in and which is best for Nebraska, that's just being butthurt or myopic or both.

We all want to be playing and a majority of us miss regular games with the likes of OU, CU, KSU etc. but we're best off where we're at. There's much more to this conference thing than only how it directly impacts football and even if that were the whole story, we're still better off.

It's not butthurt to make a little less cash and have the ability to decide your own path.

Do you feel the BIG has NU best interest over the past 21 days?

Until we see the documents, it is all just wild speculation as nothing the Big Ten has done so far, since last spring, has been particularly rational or well thought out.   Michigan / Mich State remain very doubtful.  I don't see how the Big Ten would vote against playing with just those two voting no but the political winds are swirling wildly.  The decision is coming down to the wire as we literally don't have more than a few days left until the fall season window slams shut.   A half a season with no fans, no bowls, no playoff, and piss poor TV is better than nothing, but not much.   As the saying goes, a band aid on a cut throat.  Talk has been cheap and all over the place by everyone except those who actually make the decisions and can revoke them at any time.   Get it written down in the details and close the loopholes and escape hatches.  Either Big Ten commits or they don't imo.   And, where is all the concern for not having other fall sports.  I would question the basis for such and perhaps a Title 9 suit is hanging just outside the federal courthouse door if men get to play but women don't.   Where is the logic in why men are less at risk than women?

It doesn't matter how any of us "feel" about these past 21 days. The simple fact is, a better option does not exist. And I'm not talking about just this season or just the past 3 weeks because that would be extremely shortsighted. I'm sure when this utopian conference emerges, or when independence makes sense, that UNL admin will move us to the promised land.

And no, I'm not happy with how the B1G has handled this fiasco. Just a little transparency and communication would've gone a long way. Maybe this will serve as somewhat of a wake-up call to the arrogant SOB's.
