UNL Residence Halls

At this point I'm pretty sure I'll be attending UNL next year (will be a Freshman). For those of you already there or are alumni, are there any specific residence halls i should try to get into?

On my campus visit they took me into one of the Harper-Schramm-Smith dorms, not sure which, but i really liked that one. I guess I'd prefer on of those over Abel, but i like how they have these "learning communities" things in Abel, so I'm not too sure yet.

Any sure-fire awesome halls that I don't know about? Thanks for the help guys :)

I don't know much about the other Dorms... but I had an awesome time in Abel.

I think they're still renovating it, so I don't know if that will affect your decision.
I believe they still are, but they said it will be done by this summer. All the renovations are due to be done before next fall, plus i think all of them have the general same look on the inside right? Same dimensions and all, so I suppose I'd just go for whatever had a more convenient location.

Seems like the Dorm I was always trying to get into (And sneak out of at 3AM) was Sandoz.. :woo

(Think I might have heard it's not a girls dorm anymore)?

..
Hey! Me too.

Abel6

Or as our shirts said.."Ready, Willing, And..."

At the time, 6th floor was an "Engineering floor" (with shorter visiting hours) because I was "abel" to convince myself I'd really try to study (EE).

I ended up going out to the nearby Engineering Library with the noisy Flourescent lights or sometimes out to my car..a couple times I even went over to a study (closet?) over on one of the Sandoz floors of some girls My buddy and I hung out with way too often.

There were about a dozen from my hometown on the various floors, but way too many guys from Norfolk on my floor with their strange accents.

I am in the same situation, although I still might go to UNK

anyways I thought about joining a frat, but I am not sure about that.

Also I was thinking about joining one of their learning communities(business) in Abel.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Went to UNL for 4 years (93-97). Lived on campus for 2 years in Schramm. I liked it. Co-ed dorm (by floor). Made good enough friends that actually the majority of guys on our floor that were freshmen, stayed there the 2nd year...and then people started moving out at semester and the 3rd year.

I don't know if it still works this way, but returning for our 2nd year, we could request to be in the same hall (same floor and room even) and we were given priority on not having a roomate. That was nice.

If you go back...become a part of 'tradition' and get on 4th floor Schramm...be a part of the "QUAD SQUAD". Yes...that was the cheesy name we gave ourselves.

I might run into you then. I'm not sure if Actuarial Science would be in a math or business community, or maybe it has its own.

What a coincidence. I plan on going to UNL (I will be a freshman as well) and major in actuarial science. The actuarial science major is a joint program between the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Business Administration.

I'll probably be meeting you sometime next year, then! And i know about the joint program, but I'm unsure how it works with the learning communities.
