He wasn't a HC in his 20s. He was hired at his first HC position with in the CFL at 34. In the next 4 years, he won two grey cups.
So....not sure where you're getting he was a .500 HC in his 20s and 30s.
My comment was more on his rise through as an assistant to get into the HC ranks.
Yeah, he won the Grey Cup in 1988. They were 9-9 in the regular season that year.
I didn't realize the post-season record was in a different column. He was 40-32 (55%) in the regular season as a head coach in the CFL. He did go 6-2 in the playoffs which I didn't see earlier. But obviously he didn't have to be really great to make the playoffs.
He was 11-9 (55%) as a head coach in the world leage.
So where I was getting that is from his actual record.
