USC Week Pressers

If Raiola is still banged up but we start him, USC will bring the house all game.

I know it's a lot of pressure to say "this is your chance to show us your stuff, Dana," but this game will be interesting.

Rhule is getting more than just a taste of what it's like to coach in Lincoln. This is a similar situation to where things went to s*** for Frost. I don't think Rhule will ever get the Penn State job he clearly wants if he s***s the bed with us. He knows he has to get this thing turned around, and waiting until next September isn't the right game plan.

It'll be interesting.

I've been having similar thoughts, that this situation already feels so familiar.   He's trying, so give him credit there but it's concerning he's in this place already in year 2 and seemed a bit taken aback by how it happened.   I know we are all hoping it just takes off ànd starts to roll with a new OC, but if this were another school I was watching from afar I would say this is a bit of a shot in the dark.

I am hopeful but it really comes down to the players at the end. If they do not believe in each other and play for one another, we will get the same results on the field. The Colorado and Ohio State games are the only games I saw some fire in this team. The underestimated Illinois and got sucker punched. They did not respect Indiana and got smacked silly and humiliated, and they expected to beat UCLA just by showing up. UCLA played with swagger and determination and we looked pathetic.

This game will tell if players still believe in the coaching staff and play hard to get that elusive 6th win or if they checked out. If we beat USC, I believe we win one more game and finish 7-5. If we lose to USC, it will be 5-7 again. The way this team responds this week will be illuminating as to how we end the season. Of course without Riola, our chances are very low to begin with.

Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see what Dana brings to this team the remaining three games. I remain hopeful we can still get that elusive toilet bowl invite which is now more important than ever with a new OC who needs all the practices he can get with his new team.

I think with HH at Qb and Dana we will be fine. Dana will use every bit of HH's ability's. If HH is Qb he will have 60+ yard running and we dominate USC on the ground.

Agreed.   I hope he does turn this around.  And if he still gets enough credit for it to be a candidate for the PSU job if/when it opens then so be it.   I'm so tired of sub-par football.   If Rhule can't make us a winner by end of year 3 - time to move on and find a seasoned, lower tier, long term successful coach who can bring a solid offensive and defensive identity to Lincoln - SDSU, NDSU, Liberty (Chadwell) coaches are just a few that come to mind.  Frost and Rhule were both 'splash' hires.  Thus far going with a big name hasn't worked.

He needs to get us consistantly to the top 3 to be considered for the pSUX job.  I get that people there hate Franklin, but he at least beats the teams he is supposed to.

He always seems to have them in the running until they meet up with OSU, and can't get over that hurdle.  Hell I would take that without question at this point and be quite happy for a long time losing 1 or 2 games a season and being in the running, we haven't even been close for a while now.  Poor Penn St fans haven't seen what it's like without him and they may find they regret it.

No he doesn’t. A coach who puts Nebraska in the top 15 regularly would be considered for head coaching positions for teams in the top 5 because they’re doing more with less.
