Using Craigslist for motorcycle sale

I am trying to sell a 2001 Honda 650R on craigslist. A person contacted me and wants to use paypal to pay for the m/c. They also said they would pay for the surcharge. Is there any way that they could coopt my paypal account by using this method?

Don't know if anyone else has tried this or been duped.

I tried to sell a laptop a few years ago and had the same thing happen. I got an email from "Paypal" that funds had been transferred to my account. I checked Paypal and there was nothing in there, hence it was a fake email. Just be smart about it and you should be fine.

I use craigslist and paypal for a lot of stuff. I like the site zoomthelist.com because you can search the entire country at once. I have bought and sold several items $250-$500 using paypal, but there have always been phone conversations.

I'd have a hard time with a motorcycle...Is the dude going to pick it up in person?

I've sold a couple motorcycles on CL and wouldn't take anythings besides cash or a cashiers check personally. Paypal is great for the buyers since it offers more payment options, but I'm not sure what the seller is on the hook for with non-eBay payments, and some types of payments like eChecks can take forever to clear.

When selling sh#t on Craigslist I only take CASH!!! YOu should too!! too many scammers out there!! be careful!!!!!

i most have sold odds and ends... lots of surboards, old aloha shirts... even a boat and if people really want something they can make it happen... cash kinda weeds out the scammers and wankers.....

That's a scam. Also, PP will always address you by your first and last name, the emails they send will just either say customer or your email address.
