Windy City Recruiting
With an opening on his coaching staff, John Cook was clearly motivated to try and bolster recruiting in Big Ten territory.
Cook said Thursday that he has promoted Dan Meske to the full-time assistant coaching position held previously by Lizzy Stemke. Meske, who has been a volunteer coach with NU, played at Ohio State and is a Chicago-area native who has coached with Sports Performance, a noted club team in that region.
On top of that, Cook has turned to another Chicago-area native -- former Husker
Maggie Griffin -- to take Meske's position as volunteer coach.
Griffin played for Sports Performance and at Michigan State before transferring to Nebraska.
Over the years, Nebraska has had some success at recruiting players from the Illinois-Indiana region, but these moves are an indication that NU plans to attack that area hard moving forward.
