I think the reason Bob Stoops is at the top is because he lost his #1 QB before the season even started. Now, he's lost his #1 RB who would probably been in the thick of things in the heisman race. Very few teams in history are like the Huskers were back in 94 when Frazier was out, Berringer got banged up, and we had the Terminator in there. Not many teams can lose their star player and be as competitive. Can you imagine what Ohio State would look like without Smith? I don't think Stoops has done the best job coaching this year compared to some others, but his hands were somewhat tied before the season even started.
IMO, I think Carr deserves the nod. At the beginning of the season, he was listed on almost everyone's top 5 coaches on the hot seat. He's done a hell of a job turning his team around from last year. If they go undefeated and there's any kind of justice, they'll play in the NC game over USC. USC just isn't what they've been the last few years. Their offense struggles, and their defense gives up plenty of points.
