Tonight at the Lincoln Recruiting Dinner, Norvell talked about how important walk-on's are to this program. "They are the backbone of our recruiting". He mentioned kids like Roberson and Fischer being the heartbeat of this progam. Those two in particular gave everything they have in the Alamo bowl. Roberson ended up blowing his knee out and Fischer broke his ankle during that game.
He went on to say that the walk-on program gives the program it's personality, spirit and heart.
He also explained, I thought it was common knowledge, that walk-on players receive all the same benefits as far as meals, medical treatment, etc. They are expected to live up to all the same rules as scholarship players
Lastly, he talked about how recruiting walk-on's has changed. They can no longer go out and actively recruit walk-on players. If they do contact them, and they end up walking on then they have to count towards the scholarship limit although they do not take one.
Thought people might be interested in the info.
