Walkon Program

Roy CO HSKR

Those "fans" who despised the Solich firing, have been harping about BC destroying the walkon program. That thought is a myth as the program was reduced, not eliminated, in order to get better management of the large number of potential players. Here is a post by rojo on another site:

Some of the old guard still think there's a problem??

Get real. In a year-and-a-half-plus...

Callahan has put 11 walk-ons on scholarship:

1) WR Matt Schroeder, Sr--Beldon, NE (Laurel-Concord HS)

2) WR Grant Mulkey, Jr--Arlington, TX

3) LS [Long Snapper] Lane Kelly, Jr--Omaha, NE (Creighton Prep)

4) CB/ST Joey Robison, Sr--Bertrand, NE

5) FS Blake Tiedtke, Sr---Cedar Rapids, IA

6) OB Brandon Koch, Jr--Gothenberg, NE

7) P Sam Koch, Jr--Seward, NE

8) CB Kellen Huston, now graduated---Ankeny, IA

9) OT Newt Lindenfelter, Jr--Plainview, NE

10) LB Adam Ickes, Sr--Page, NE (Orchard HS)

11) S Shane Siegel, Jr--Grand Island, NE

PS Did this "old guard" condemn TO with the same fervor when he changed the offense to a passing one with Ferrogama in '77? Roy

I resemble that "OLD GUARD" remark :) I believe the people that are disgruntled with the program have a hard time dealing with change. They long for a simpler time when life was wonderful all day long. I firmly believe no matter what BC does to improve the team some people will complain. No problems. Everyone gets their say HERE. BC has just scaled back the W/O program to many peoples dismay. There is another thread that mentions that many Ne. HS programs are more run oriented due to past proclivities. CHANGE IS INEVITABLE. GAME DAY BABY

Bout time they give my home town boy Joey Robison a scholarship...He is one of the hardest workers on the team, and I know that is true.
