Wanting to attend a home game...

There's a ton of places to go for food, I don't know why only bar and grill type places get mentioned. Lazlo's is great, but you've also got The Oven (Indian), Vincenzo's (Italian, but also has a gameday menu), Bread and Cup (soup and sandwiches), and the Blue Orchid (Thai) down in the Haymarket, which are all very good. A few blocks south of the Haymarket, the Green Gateau is another good restaraunt.

On O street it's mostly bars, but there are a couple good restraunts including Yia-Yia's (pizza). A little further east at around 16th or 17th and P street is a great mexican food restaraunt, called La Mexicana. I think somebody already mentioned Bisonwiches, and I like Doozy's too for sandwiches.

Anyways, there's lots of good food right within about a 10-15 minute walk from the stadium, so don't just get stuck at Lazlo's or Misty's every time you're down there.

In terms of bars, there aren't many worth going to. Iguana's, Sandy's and places like Brother's are probably not game-day type atmospheres. These are simply college kid hangouts during the majority of the year. Barry's is a place I know lots of people go to on game-day (https://barrysbarandgrill.com/Home_Page.html) Also there are huge crowds at the Embassy Suites near the stadium. For food, make sure you hit up Bisonwiches sometime. Their sandwiches are generally thought to be top notch. I am sad that their $1 draw night disappeared though, we used to drink Guinness on tap all night for under $20. They wised up after we showed up at every one of them for a couple months.
Bisonwiches still has some of the best happy hour specials, though. They also usually have good Beer-of-the-month choices. I'm a fan of Killian's Irish Red and that was the beer-of-the-month in February or March, I believe.

One persons opinion.

I tend to have a good time at Iguana's, Woody's, Mainstreet, and of course Cliffs for a shark-water. While I agree that most of the bars are "college hangouts", on gamedays (including spring game) that's not the case. Generally speaking, there is a good mix of people.
Very true. I didn't get to enjoy the bar scene last year because I didn't turn 21 until the end of November, but I have plenty of friends who say the bars are great and not just full of college students on game-day.

Some of the bars Red Tape mentioned are very good. Iguana's and Main Street are very much college town bars, but also pretty cheap. For example, Main Street usually has a $3 cover charge on the weekend nights but they have some amazingly cheap drinks like long island iced teas for $1. Spend $6 and you're probably feeling pretty good.
