Was the Big 12 strong this year?

As I am following the Super Regionals this season, I noticed one thing.

The Big 12 does not seem very good as many other years before 2006. I will give kudos to Texas A&M for losing to Rice today, 3-2. Oklahoma State bounced back against Louisville.

If no team makes it to the CWS, it will be 2 years in a row and will mark the fourth time since 1997. In 1997 and 1998, no Big 12 team made it. In 1999, two teams (ironically, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State) made it. Both teams were two and out.

Hopefully, we are not becoming the Big 10 in baseball. The Big 10 has not had a CWS team since 1984. That was a Michigan team.

In 1993, there were 4 Big 12 teams in the CWS.

Oklahoma State

Texas

Texas A&M

Kansas

If no team makes it, it definately would make our season a little more bearable.

:) :)

Nothing really to do with this topic, but an interesting fact...

Dave Bingham (our pitching coach) was the head coach of that Kansas team that made it to the CWS in '93...

I dont think it's so much of the Big 12 not being any good this year. I think college baseball is becoming more diverse. I mean... the #1,#4,#6,#7,#8 national seeds didn't even make it out of their own regionals this year. Says a lot in which direction college baseball is heading.
