Washington Huskies to watch for

NUance

Assistant Coach
First, I'm still skeptical about our own offensive line. Especially the interior. And I’m a little concerned about UW's DTs.

DT Alameda Ta’amu #74. We are gonna have a tough time running over the top of this guy. He is a freaking Samoan mountain. Even after dropping 60 lbs from last year, he still weights around 330. I doubt he’s mobile enough to get after T-Mart. And I’ll be surprised if he can play 4 qtrs at full speed. Still, the guy is a monster.

DT Cam Elisara #99 is tiny and quick compared to Ta’amu. Won't be as disruptive. But in combo with Ta’amu could be a challenge to contain.

What other matchups could cause problems for NU this Saturday?

I'm really interested to see Prince vs. Jermaine Kearse, one of the top CB's in the nation against a reciver who has a lot of buzz and may be the best in the Pac 10.

Muk and Jermaine Kearse will be fun to watch.
I’d love to see Prince and Dennard put a lockdown on Kearse. Limit him to just a few short receptions. And then maybe see Thenarse get a solid shot on him coming over the top. Oh yeah!!

Last week Kearse had 9 catches for 179 yards and 3 touchdowns. Locker with only 12 rushing yards on 5 carries.

If Thenarse gets a chance, there's no doubt in my mind he'll lay the smack-down on Kearse making him think twice about doing that again.

I think Kearse was the Pac-10 offensive player of the week last week. I don't think it will be a repeat performance.

Ta'Amu and Elisara are the starting DT's. Tokolahi, Robinson, and Potoa'e will spell them to keep them fresh.

How good/experienced is your starting Oline?

Here is our depth chart for this week:

Udub Depth Chart for Nebraska game.
Our o-line has depth. Whether that depth is good or not is still under debate. We should have a very good o-line this season, but we're waiting for competition against better teams to make that judgment. Several redshirt frosh will be playing on the line for us in the rotation and look quite good to this point. We'll have to wait for Sat. to see how they perform on the road with the noise.
