Watts

Bo obviously wasn't feeling too good about Zac following that breakdown at the end of the 1st half... probably told Wats not to put him in the position of making another mistake with a 2 TD lead.

Those option plays in the first half were also painful to watch.

2nd and goal from the five, after burkhead had just bulled for 5 on 1st down. Hey, if it ain't broke, don't break it, right? Give it to him again!

But no, let's try some fancy play action and lose 15 yards so that KSU and the world know that a deep throw is coming the next playso they can pick it off, return it to the 40, and totally swing momentum in the game.

With 2nd and goal from the 5, give me 2 ISO's and a cloud of dust, and come away with at least 3 points.

The game plan was to burn clock. Once we got up by two scores, you could see them really ramp down the offense.

I'll guarantee that was a conscious decision by Bo and Watson to wear down the defense and burn clock.

I'll also guarantee that Bo was involved in the decision.
This.

If people haven't figured it out by now, we are playing to our strengths. Get a lead then make sure we don't make mistakes. Our defense will keep us in games, as long as our offense doesn't screw the pooch for them.

Infact, I would say Watson called a great game. He got a lead, then told our defense to go finish the job.

Play to our strengths. And that is what we did tonight.

Pretty? No. Effective? Hell yes.

i know we won, and shawn did run the ball on the last drive to chew up clock, but did anyone else notice a deviation from what was working?

the 3rd and 2 call, while successful, drove me nuts.

I thought shawn called a bad game, and I wouldn't be surprised if he is asked to move on after the end of the season.

don't mean to be a killjoy here, but we didn't do jack on offense the entire 2nd half sans that first drive for a td.

your a kill joy

<_<

I'm not a Watson fan, but I didn't think he called that bad of a game. The further we go on through this season, the more convinced I am that our offensive line is the largest contributor to our struggles on offense. Watts has called a couple pretty bad games, but I don't think this was one of them.

lol!

Well, I'd say it's pretty darned easy to be effective when all you have to do is get a TD or two for the whole game. A couple turnovers and 3 & outs......so what?? The defense and special teams are great so all that is demanded of our unstoppable wco is about a TD each half.

Of course, what posters are trying to get at that is totally ignored is that this "effective" offense isn't going to be anywhere close to "effective" when we play good teams in the bowls or Texas. Not even remotely close. My God, the thought of Lee running the option vs Texas is simply too obscene to comprehend.

But, hey.....let's just pretend everything is just fine. :koolaid2:

You know, it's kind of comforting to know that when I come here, the Watson haters will always be around. In a world that's changing around me so fast, it's something I can really count on.

Some people never get it.

Score 50 or I'm taking you out back to shoot you in the head.

Last year we had Wats take a high powered offense, but scale it back to a ball control offense to help keep our defense off the field. Again, he played to our strengths to help the entire team.

This year, he has a crap line, crap WRs and a bad QB. Halfway through the year he is changing our offensively philosophy, again, to better play to our strengths. Get Lee outside of the pocket, so our line doesn't get him killed, use his athleticism and make defenses respect his ability to run. That frees up WRs downfield and helps give Lee needed confidence.

Once we got a good lead against a crap offense, we went into a shell so we didn't have any mental breakdowns. We lost some field position battles and Wats didn't want to take any un-needed chances to hurt our defense.

Right now our offense has two jobs ..

Do NOT turn the ball over.

Take advantage of gift opportunities.

If we do that, our coaching staff feels our defense is good enough to win even with our bad offense.

Again, play to your strengths. That is exactly what this coaching staff is doing.

I know, we need to put up at least 30 a game, or we aren't successful. NEWSFLASH - WE DO NOT HAVE THE TALENT TO DO THAT CONSISTENTLY RIGHT NOW. Deal with it. Learn it. Accept it. You will be better off than wasting time with another bashing post.

EDIT: Double post.

P.S., I hate this board system and how it hangs after hitting submit forcing double posts.

I'm so sick of thw watts bashing he lost two players at almost every position on the offense ans some people act like they expext 35 points per game. The fact is no OC in the entire country could lose as much as our O did and not take a step back.

3 QB'S

2 rbs

2 best wrs

2 best linemen

What do you expect?

What do they expect? Well, all the stuff that works on their NCAA football console games to work in real life, of course! But we can be thankful they're not making the decisions for who will be next season's OC.
