We are excellent on offense 5 years with defensive minded guy and defense is our problem...

Exactly EZ. The two touchdowns on Evans were both covered pretty well. Their receivers made great plays on both. The other two were on illegal pick plays. The replays showed bad both were. Considering how depleted the D line was, I was pretty happy with the scheme.
No. Anyone who has ever played in the secondary knows that your most basic responsibility is to not let the receiver get behind you. Those deep balls that torched Evans and Green were not covered well.

We have recruited the QB position very well the past two cycles as we have the DL. The LB spot will be 100% upgraded next season and far more athletic with the guys we have.

I'd give you the OL thus far. We shall see this next season. Mousy and Jake Cotton have shown well in practice. Cotton played well today.
The only thing I would say to this is, we think we have, but how many of us said the same thing after Cody green or Todd peat, even getting seisay last year.

I hope your right and will root for these kids like there is no tomorrow but the bottom line is we need to see some development on the field.

We've seen him do it in the past with the Peso and in 2010 where he played Gomes as linebacker though as well. So this year it was somewhat puzzling. It could have just been that we didnt have the guys he wanted. Which does fall on him, but we have signed very solid classes since 2010. Next year people will understand.

Although this is true, we were still in position to make a play on the ball. We really easily could have on this game with just two or three of those passes deflected.

So the one that Andrew Green tipped wasn't covered well??

Do all of you Bo haters have monthly meetings where you talk about your talking points? Everyone of you can only complain about recruiting and the assistant coaches. Most of which I think are doing a pretty good job. You act like 5 years with nearly 50 wins is the end of the world. Because of YOUR unrealistic goals for the program. 90% of Husker Nation is willing to give Bo 5 more years to get everything figured out. The amazing part is that very few of you have coached 1 minute of football in your entire life. I'm going to put my faith in Tom Osborne when it comes to what is best for our program.

Wow I think we saw ALOT of development on the field this year on the offensive side of the ball. The oline looked better than they have in a long time.

I will respect your opinion as you pay far more attention to incoming recruits than i do. However, I am a firm believer in past performance being a good predictor of future results and I just don't have the confidence you do. We have seen the same season 4 years in a row only with our losses seemingly becoming worse.

Absolutely true my only point is we all get excited about recruiting classes and potential but you just don't know till you see the development on the field.

Lots of soph and jr have developed on offense but only a handful on d

Our staff is coaching up kids that most wouldn't have a chance on some of the teams we have played, but what EZ I think is saying that we have alot of talent coming up real good talent and our coaches have already proved that they can coach. just so they all can stay healthy now will be the thing that will make or break our chances.

My thoughts on the 08 and 09 recruiting classes are well documented. They weren't very good and this is where the rumor of the effort by the staff is question and rightfully so. 09 wasn't a good effort by the staff. These would be the lplayers we would currently be counting on. These classes were particularly thin and not great along the OL/DL.

That was a tough lesson learned by the staff and we are paying for it. Our lack of progression to 11 and 12 wins can at times be attributed to our lack of depth and it stems back to these two classes. Since then, I've been a big fan of the kids we have brought in. We have a very solid class this year and I believe we have the opportunity to finish with a big bang.

I applaud Tim Beck. Guy had a big job to do and did it. Improvement by TMart, good crop of backs and Wr's. O-Line needs work and if they were strong we could really be rolling on offense. But as mentioned, when you put up 30 or more points up in 4 losses, it is a defense problem.

I really hope these new defensive guys can play.
While our defense stunk let's not forget about 2 more turnovers (interceptions this time) by good ol' Martinez one of which was at a critical point in the game that once again negated our hopes of even staying in this game.

Get ready people, it's gonna be the saaaame thing next year...... Can't wait!!!!

Although I am not trying to call you out here Maudfather, that is not entirely true in this match zone scheme. Green and Evans were supposed to have safety help over the top on those deep throws. The problem lies in the fact that all season long our safeties have bit on play fakes causing them to be 2 steps behind when they are to have over the top responsibility.

This isn't all on the safeties, however. The front 7 has been so bad against the run that the safeties have run support responsibility as well. We are lucky to have had the success we've had in the secondary when we are committing at least 1 additional defender up for run support.

Therefore, scheme is a small problem. It is more on personnel.

So let me get this straight Billdozer. You don't think what conference your in dictates how you recruit? We were putting 1 linebacker on the field in the big 12. Now we are playing 3 most of the time. The SEC doesn't worry about it because they just yank the scholarships of the kids that aren't working out. Classy move by the way. When did we become so entitled that 9 and 10 win seasons are grounds for firing a coach.
EZ-E: yes, do you think we could beat Alabama/Florida/LSU? (I would have replied directly to you post but iPads suck.)

BRV: if you want to be the best, you need to coach/recruit the best. Do you think any team that loses the national title turns and says "we'll it's just the conference we play in"

The SEC wins because they do what is needed to win not only in their conference but in the nation. Also this idea of being nice is why we will never return to prominence. Society and football has changed we need to change with it. The SEC has changed with it the best and we see where they are.....
Well, if behaving like a bunch of thugs and asshats, cheating off the field, embarrasing our program with countless law-breaking incidents is what it takes to win, then they can keep their f'ing crystal footballs, and I'll gladly accept our usual 9-10 win seasons knowing we do it in a classy and clean manner. This is the win at all costs attitude that makes my puke.
