We are going to lose

It's pretty pathetic that some "husker fans" (supposedly the classiest in the world) have to resort to name calling and berating other husker fans for voicing their opinion about a certain subject. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and let it be left at that, an opinion. Everyone is also entitled to respectfully disagree with that opinion without fear of being put down and belittled for that opinion.

It's lather, rinse repeat with you. The team wins a big game, you get all high on the team. If they struggle or lose, they suck, they were outcoached, outplayed, Callahan can't do anything right, we need more 5 star recruits OMG!!!111 You spoke at lengths that the Troy game scared the crap out of you. They won 56-0.
The Troy game scared me because I didn't know how the team would react after the SC game, and I thought Troy was a quality team. Is that hard to understand?

You go ahead and be Negative Nancy, I guess someone needs to fill that role. I choose to base my opinions upon facts, like, oh, I dunno, WE WON THE motherf'ng GAME. Survive and advance. It wasn't pretty, but we got through it. 1-0 in conference play, 2 big road games to get up for. If they win next week, it will be the first time since '00 that we won there. If we win at KSU, it would be the first time since '96. This team can definitely do that.
So what about the fact that we gave up close to 600 yards of total offense? Or the fact that we could only run for a little over 100 yards? Or the fact that we only sacked the QB once? Or the fact that had KU not botched an extra point, we would have lost the game? Or the fact that each member of the secondary has a big target on his chest? Or the fact that we didn't have ONE long, sustained drive the entire night? Yes we won, but we are not a championship-caliber team. Which is fine. Let's just make sure our expectations mirror that assessment.

If you are referring to me being a fan that shows loyalty and support in times that are a little difficult, it's just dandy. It's awesome knowing that my seat in the south end zone and my voice joined in with 80,000 of my Husker brothers and sisters screaming like hell made a difference in that game. The team was down and limped in and needed our support to win. I was dazed as well, it was like getting hit with a sucker punch. Kansas hit us and we didn't expect it. Bottom line is 1-0 in the conference. Survive and advance. I'm not going to resort to calling you an :asshat , but you are starting to make me wonder. :dunno
Sorry I had to resort to sitting on the edge of my chair yelling at the TV for 3 1/2 hours. I know that makes me a bit less of a fan, but I tried my best. Kept hoping and cheering, even after I believed it was apparent that we were the lesser team and we were going to lose. I'm sorry I got frustrated and decided to voice an opinion. Maybe my opinion isn't worth a damn because I wasn't in the south end zone, but it is what it is. We are fortunate to be 1-0, since we beat a better team. Let's hope we play better and more focused on the road at ISU. I'm no more confident in this team today than I was before the KU team. In fact, I believe we've been exposed. So let's hope the team puts forward a huge effort Saturday night.

Or the fact that had KU not botched an extra point
Hey I agree that everyone is entitled to their opinion yours just strikes a nerve with me...............you can say I'm wearing the scarlet colored glasses or drinking the kool-aid or whatever..............bottom line is we won and that's all I care about........let's say you put USC as the team we played last night instead of KU and the same outcome happened would you be just as critical??? And don't say USC is way better than KU because I know that I'm just saying hypothetically speaking you imagine that, how would you feel about the WIN!!!! Was it an ugly win??? Yes it was but it was a win regardless

As for the comment that is quoted above we can play the what if games all we want................what if KU wouldn't of had so many turnovers, what if NU wouldn't of had so many turnovers, what if Taylor would have had more time to execute his plays by the O-line blocking better, what if, what if, what if.................bottom line is mistakes happen in every game and that's just an excuse or a scapegoat if you will...............

Yes we won, but we are not a championship-caliber team. Which is fine. Let's just make sure our expectations mirror that assessment.
My expectations are right where they should be. I think that my hopes are what are unrealistically high. I hope we win the national championship every season and there is no way Im gonna say we dont have a shot at it.

Everyone should stop and remember that hopes and expectations are two different animals and that Was is just stating his expectations. Im sure he hopes the same thing for the Huskers as I do every year.

The Troy game scared me because I didn't know how the team would react after the SC game, and I thought Troy was a quality team. Is that hard to understand?
No, but c'mon. Troy was worn out from 2 tough road tests and NU was pissed off. A team with good senior leadership and any sort of resolve was going to bounce back and take care of business.

So what about the fact that we gave up close to 600 yards of total offense? Or the fact that we could only run for a little over 100 yards? Or the fact that we only sacked the QB once? Definitely disturbing that we gave up that many yards. I think the run would have been utilized more if the running backs would have held onto the darn ball. Turnovers killed us in the game. The lack of pressure on the QB was disturbing as well. The if game is a dangerous one though. If the Huskers didn't fumble, if the lateral that McKeon picked up was called correctly, it wouldn't have been close. I would agree that what we saw on saturday was not championship caliber football. It was a sloppily played game. My expectations for this season were, 1) North Title, 2) 10-2 regular season, 3) Cotton Bowl. All of those are in good shape and if NU can get past ISU this weekend, I think things will be looking good. As much as I hate to use this analogy, I have no idea how many Yankees games I have seen where they appear to be completely outclassed for 90% of the game and then pull it off. It can't be luck if it happens with regularity. The Huskers played like crap for a good part of the game and wound up getting the W still.

I'm not saying that you are less of a fan for not being at the game, because it isn't possible for some to be there. My point was you had given up on the team in the 3rd quarter before KU even got a lead. It made me wanna puke, all the retards around me saying "OMG WE ARE TEH SUCK!!!1" and those filing for the exits when we were down 25-24 with almost 5:00 left. I don't agree with that crap. You are entitled to your opinion and you have a right to voice it(isn't America great), but I also have a right to an opinion of what you said. If you get so down and post about it, don't be surprised when you get reactions. I agree that we need to make some adjustments and come out firing well to win that game and use the momentum to roll into Manhattan and take care of business. I don't know if we have been exposed or if it was just a bad game. We will find out.
