Weather Report?

I'm heading from Sioux City back home to North Platte for the Christmas week. I usually take 77 down to Lincoln and then I-80. I've been trying to get an idea of how much snow is going to be where but the reports are very conflicting. I'm hoping worst case scenario is that I-80 gets hit hard but no accumulations to speak of north of it so that I can zig zag across the state like I've done before going through Norfolk, Elgin, Burwell, Merna, Arnold, Gothenburg and then I-80.

What's the report in your part of the state?

Sioux city news is calling for most of the snow to be on a line extending from sioux city to york and south, but accuweather.com is calling for 3 inches in grand island.

so far, they are saying most all of the snow will be farther into Iowa, unless something changes, it should be smooth sailing, well other than idiots driving, but nothing will help that.

I'm not really worried about the roads for me, those idiots are the one's I'm worried about, there was a 3 semi 7 car pile-up on hwy 75 north of Sioux City today that I got the pleasure of passing, visibility was about 150-250 ft and this idiot truck driver thought he'd make a u-turn on the divided highway, that alone is bad enough- add the fact that it was at a spot where they hadn't plowed because no one uses that particular turning lane it was just built for a future county road and the fact that it was at a steep grade, the truck got stuck and then rear ended causing the 10 vehicle pile up. I'm just glad I was going north and it happened in the southbound lane. I was extra cautious just turning off the highway because I couldn't see I don't know what this guy was thinking trying to make a u-turn in those conditions.

I miss Nebraska drivers..

Where most have taken Driver's Ed, Wave at you on gravel roads, and know what turn signals are for.

Here, you're lucky to even see the other driver while they're texting... only to look up to change over two or three lanes w/o signaling.

The Roads out here are designed to withstand extreme heat..So the few times it rains, you get people driving around like they're on ice...

Then there's the masses of Snowbirds that come down here for the Winter and drive 20mph everywhere because they can't see past their hood...(But they at least signal...from two turns ago) <_<

Merry effin' Christmas and spread some Joy!!!

Why don't you take 20 to East of Valentine then cut south. you should miss all the weather then. It would be extra time but you won't have roads to deal with.

It won't snow until late friday night. If you're traveling friday during the day you should be fine.

On saturday they're calling for some blowing snow but it supposed to be the worst in the eastern part of the state. And from what I've heard they're calling for like less than an inch for most of the state, with like 1-3 inches in the east...

Nvrmind, haha I forgot I had a Christmas party at my aunt and uncles to attend by stromsburg on sunday so I won't be leaving here untill sunday morning.
