Coach Tom Osborne and members of Nebraska's 1995 National Championship Team will celebrate a 10-year reunion Saturday.

Lincoln - The Husker Nation Pavilion will salute and celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the 1995 Nebraska football team’s 12-0 season and national championship. Players and coaches on that team will be honored at halftime as well when Nebraska hosts Oklahoma in an 11:10 a.m. kickoff on ABC.

The Pavilion opens three hours prior to kickoff (8 a.m.) and selected players from the 1995 championship team will be available for autographs and photos from approximately 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. More than 90 players and four coaches are returning for Nebraska’s game with Oklahoma and reunion. The players will take turns signing autographs and enjoying time with their teammates and coaches at a private celebration brunch in a reserved area at the Pavilion.

This is the second consecutive year that the Nebraska football program has had the opportunity to host a reunion of a national championship team. Last season, Nebraska’s 1994 national championship team had a reunion the weekend of the Huskers’ game against Missouri.

This weekend, many of the same former players will be on hand when the Huskers battle Oklahoma at Memorial Stadium. In addition to the players, head coach Tom Osborne and assistant coaches Charlie McBride, Milt Tenopir and Dan Young are planning to attend.

The 1995 championship team will be featured on a special two-hour Sports Nightly show on Friday evening as Pinnacle Sports Productions broadcasts live from the Nebraska bookstore. Pinnacle Sports Productions will broadcast live from the Pavilion as they have each week and will also have special guests from the 1995 team on that day, including Coach Tenopir and Coach McBride as well as representatives from the Fiesta Bowl.

The 1995 Nebraska football team is widely regarded as one of the best in the history of college football. Nebraska posted a 12-0 record capped by a 62-24 win over Florida in the 1996 Fiesta Bowl. Nebraska capped the regular season with a 37-0 shutout of Oklahoma in the final Big Eight Conference game. During the season, Nebraska defeated all 12 of its opponents by at least 14 points with nine of the victories by 37 points or more. In 1995, the Huskers had the Heisman Trophy runner-up (Tommie Frazier), three first-team All-Americans, six other players who earned second-team, third-team or honorable-mention All-America honors and 11 first-team All-Big Eight picks on the team.

Can't believe it's been 10 years. Many of our current players are too young to really remember the reign of destruction that team brought upon all who came before it (although wasn't Stuntz on that team...?). It's good to expose them to a little of that energy.

:worship :worship

i hope that BC embrasses this team and coaches and exposes his current players to the will and heart of these athletes and uses their passion to fuel this teams run at OU this year

any chance they would play a tunnel walk from that era and have that team come out first to charge the crowd and then play this years and have the team come out surrounded by the 95 team?? that would be cool

I wonder if somehow we could get them to put on the jerseys and play. Do you think they would be ready? Nah, probably couldn't run the WCO.

Thats a helluva'n idea. I know I'd be Jack-D up like my old school '95 days at Memorial. :horns2

Wonder if old Charlie Mac can be convinced to give another "get your f'ing sh#t together & act like you deserve a Blackshirt" speech like he did a couple yrs ago before the MU game.

Either way, we need pics ETR!!! :thumbs

I'll get something together.

BC explained that the '95 team would not be involved in the game prep. Doing that would be a distraction. The current team needs to FOCUS!!!

They'll have their time after the final whistle. I'll be going to the Pavillion on VIP passes prior to the game and hopefully meeting Tempoir and McBride. I'll report back next week.

i think it is a mistake not to try to include the 95 team with this team...that is one thing i thought stoops did very well and smart is to embrasse the past coaches and players....show the tradition and the immortality you get when you work hard and perform...

Imo it is crucial to show the current Husker players the heritage and legacy made for them. There is no better way than to incorporate the Huskers that made the path for them.

Whether Callahan wants to or not the 95 team will be involved in the preparation. There are pleny of in state kids on the team who remember that team and want to play great in front of them.

You'd think they'd make a special version of the tunnel walk incorperating the Championship team of 95' with today's team.

Man, woman and child...the roof would come off of Memorial Stadium if it had one!

We'd put em' in the aisles!!! :thumbs :cheers :horns2
