To be fair, I think Mikael has more of a talent for writing heavier music than he does writing more progressive-type stuff.

However, I don't mind the direction they seem to be going, I just hope they improve upon Heritage.

I absolutely concur. Demon of the Fall, Blackwater Park and Deliverance, are three of the best songs, I've ever heard.

I think he needs to stop hanging around Steven Wilson so much, and go back to the Blackwater Park/Ghost Reveries stuff. Thats when It thought they were at the top of their game...

I only heard the last few minutes of it, I heard it on the Sirius/XM on the way back from the gym. Later on I'm going to sit down, listen to it the whole way through.

Ok, I've listened to the whole thing, and I'm not remotely impressed.

James has power in his voice, and where's the distortion in the guitars?

It's essentially a song, taken from Reload (of Sh*t) and some parts of "Justice" thrown in, and it just doesn't work at all...

Ok, I've heard the song again twice in the past two days, and I've figured out whats missing.

There's no bottom end in the songs what so ever. Their distortion is all midrange. Whoever is mixing their guitar sound is pooping the bed...

 
Lucky to see this song in person tonight. Another amazing QOTSA concert.
