To be fair, I think Mikael has more of a talent for writing heavier music than he does writing more progressive-type stuff. The close minded ones who basically want the same album made over and over again. And the scream/growl only crowd who wont listen to any clean vocals.I'm looking forward to the new album, but I think a lot of old school fans are gonna be pissed.New Opeth leaked, I think. It's definitely Mikael singing. Will probably be taken down before too long.
I absolutely concur. Demon of the Fall, Blackwater Park and Deliverance, are three of the best songs, I've ever heard. To be fair, I think Mikael has more of a talent for writing heavier music than he does writing more progressive-type stuff.
However, I don't mind the direction they seem to be going, I just hope they improve upon Heritage.
Really?? link?Kind of hilarious how Opeth fanboys have hijacked Roadrunner's facebook page for not making good on their announcement of an Opeth single.
Ok, I've heard the song again twice in the past two days, and I've figured out whats missing.Ok, I've listened to the whole thing, and I'm not remotely impressed.I only heard the last few minutes of it, I heard it on the Sirius/XM on the way back from the gym. Later on I'm going to sit down, listen to it the whole way through. To me it seems like he didn't warm up or something. It sounded bad when he first started singing, but his voice sounded great towards the middle and end. It's just a demo recorded all in one shot, after all.
James has power in his voice, and where's the distortion in the guitars?
It's essentially a song, taken from Reload (of Sh*t) and some parts of "Justice" thrown in, and it just doesn't work at all...
