5-7 in year two not lookin so bad now is it folks
I agree with you Moiraine. It is definitely coaching but football players need to have common sense. That is a bad decision. The most fundamental aspect for special teams is when to field the ball, when to let it go. If we fail to do that then why even bother having a paid coach.Yes it was Barney. Obviously huskerfan74 is wrong about him not playing. It was a bad play, but when > 75% of your ST plays have boneheaded mistakes, it’s the coach that’s the problem.
It does matter.Does it matter who it was? If you are not smart enough to not put your team in a hole in an away game when your team is down and you need positive plays then may be you should not be on the field. Or May be, just maybe, your special teams coach is an idiot who should be fired because he cannot teach fundamentals. Without consequences, learning will not happen.
It boggles the mind just how bad our defense played in this game. You could tell they were going to put up a lot of points just halfway through the first quarter but this was embarrassing.
We needed a good running back this season and didn't have one. We couldn't have won this game no matter who was calling plays or leading our offense in this one, but it's clear after this game & the Rutgers game that we just can't run the ball well under this staff.
Please don't commit suicide! Rhule is going to do it his way not yours! We do need to replace a couple asst. coaches & get a few good players out of the portal, not average.
Yes, and that is really really unfortunate.I learned this team is like the others that came before it. Get them down…even a little bit..and they’re done.
Could the defensive struggles be that Cooper left the program as DB coach? Or that there is a disconnect between White and Butler. We did lose a few guys from last year, but the D has struggled to a degree this year and the DB's are a very weak link.Agree Undone. The defensive performance is what worries me the most. The D actually kept us in most games last season outside of MIchigan which won the national title. The D has look lost for much of the Illinois game and the entire Indiana game. I know the primary criticism of Rhule has been that he struggles against ranked teams, and we are finding that to be true at Nebraska too. HIs teams just are not up to par with the best teams in the country.
I don’t necessarily disagree with your take on the defense, they didn’t have their best effort today.Agree Undone. The defensive performance is what worries me the most. I can’t fully call out the defense tho when the other 2 phases of the game were compete train wrecks today from the second they touched the ball. Hard to maintain that high intensity and swarm the ball with aggressiveness when you don’t have much hope
I dunno if I would call it struggles. I mean today was bad, but I think this is the defense by design. Bend don’t break is nice when your offense has a pulse and you can play the field position game… bend don’t break will look horrendous when you’re constantly left out to dry by your teammates. We still dont have a solo guy who demands a double team and we don’t draw up blitzes enough to make up for that. Any defense will get carved up when those factors fall that wayCould the defensive struggles be that Cooper left the program as DB coach? Or that there is a disconnect between White and Butler.
